Chapter 162: Discovered

Dai Le took the phone and heard a deep male voice ask, “I need to know the name of your boss. Spare me the titles—just tell me plainly.”

“Fang Zhen. If you don’t know him—”

“I know,” Zhai Muyang interrupted, relief evident in his tone. “The son of Commander Fang Wei and head of the Snow Wolf Special Forces, Fang Zhen.” He exhaled heavily, sinking back in his chair. “Give the phone to Yimo.”

Song Yimo took the phone back, turning slightly as she whispered, “Dage.”

“Leave the mall with him. Zhou Xin is already there and will meet you at the exit. I’m still twenty minutes out.”

“Understood,” Song Yimo replied in a low voice. “Dage, please hurry.”

“I’ll be there soon. Don’t worry. The people after you have official backing and access to the mall’s surveillance, so staying there isn’t safe. Get out right away.”

“Okay.”

Handing the phone back to Dai Le, she felt a deep sense of relief, knowing she now had someone reliable by her side. “My brother wants us to leave the mall immediately.”

From the way this man spoke and his awareness of who his “boss” was, Dai Le had a good sense of just how formidable her “Dage” must be. No doubt from a powerful family himself, and naturally, the young girl calling him “Dage” came from a background just as impressive.

What’s more, she had risked everything to save their boss’s son. For that alone, she deserved a measure of his respect.

“A Dong, in a bit, you’ll carry the child. I’ll pull our son aside and explain things to him.”

“Got it.” Liang Dong knew her son’s temperament well. If they didn’t explain why she was holding another child, he would certainly stir up trouble. She glanced at Song Yimo, a sigh escaping her. “It seems we’re destined to cross paths. We didn’t plan to meet, yet here we are, tangled together.”

“Apologies, Sister Liang,” Song Yimo said softly. “I didn’t trust you before.”

“You did the right thing. If it weren’t for my husband’s unique profession, I might have stepped away the moment I sensed something amiss. But honestly, you’re quite brave. How did you even dare to take the child from them? Have you thought about what might have happened if a young girl like you fell into their hands?”

"I didn't have time to think. In the heat of the moment, with the child wailing incessantly, they suggested pouring a bottle of Baijiu down the little one’s throat to get him drunk enough to pass out. They uttered those words without a care for life or death. It was during a brief absence, while one went to fetch the liquor, that I seized the opportunity, knocked out the person holding the child, and snatched him away."

When Dai Le heard these words, his face paled, the words forced through clenched teeth: “A bunch of bastards.”

“This is your brother?” The little boy leaned forward, eager to poke the baby’s soft cheeks. Liang Dong quickly grasped his hand. “Be careful. Sister Song, this is my little troublemaker, Dai Qi. Say hello to your sister.”

“Hello, sister.” Dai Qi looked up obediently, his hair damp with sweat, radiating the vitality of a lively child.

“Hello, Dai Qi.”

By now, Dai Le had quelled his anger, speaking softly to his son, “Your brother is sick. We need to take him to the doctor. Your sister can’t carry him anymore. How about we let Mama hold him later?”
