Hajimes pov

I stepped out of the fun house, my eyes dull and empty. Nekumaru was killed, gundam was executed. It was just like before.

"Hic" Sonia cried into her hands, still broken from gundam's death. One of his hamsters nuzzled against her face in an attempt to comfort her "thank you my furry friend" she scratched under his chin "you're absolutely right. We can't give up. No matter how hard it gets we must persevere, for the people who no longer can"

Her words struck a cord in me. She's right. I'm still alive and I'm taking it for granted. I raised my hands and slapped my cheeks hard.

"Hajime what are you doing?" Sonia gasped.

"Sorry. I just had to slap some sense into myself" I rubbed my cheeks.

"What a relief. I knew you'd be alright" chiaki gave me a kind smile. I noticed nagito stalking off. He's probably found out the truth by now.

"Hold on guys. I need to do something" I rushed after nagito "nagito" he ignored me "hey I said hold on!" I grabbed him by the shoulder.

"Don't touch me reserve course student!" He spat "to think you've been so cold to me this whole time. Acting like you're better than me. Your arrogance makes me sick!" He turned to walk away.

"I know you found out about the remnants" he stopped in his tracks.

"You knew about that?" His eyes widened in disbelief.

"I've always known" I took a step forward "don't you see nagito. There's no hope here. We are beyond hope. These deaths have been for nothing!"

"That's where you're wrong hajime" he let out a sick laugh "we can save this. All we have to do is kill the remnants"

"What do you mean we-" I stopped as his hands cupped my face.

"This version of you is beautiful" he stroked my cheek "so unlike izuru. You have no talent but your hope shines brighter than all of us. I think you're what I was looking for this whole time. Let's burn this place together"

I shakily pushed him away before running off. I feel like I've made a mistake.
