The Glitch (Danganrompa Au)

Hajimes pov

"What is this place?" The others gathered around the ruins in confusion. We ignored them, walking over to the keypad. Chaiki nodded as I reached out and typed out the password.

"Holy crap!" Kazuichi yelped as the doors opened.

I turned to the others "come on. It's time to learn the truth"

Feeling confused the other's followed me inside. All except chaiki who simply gave me a wave goodbye as the doors shut behind her.

*Time skip*

I headed to the open door where alter ego stood. This time I've made it to the end. Hopefully alter ego will know what's going on.

I headed inside but I wasn't met with alter ego but-

"Makoto!" I gasped.

"Hajime I hope you've got this message" he started his recording "I'm sure you're wondering what's causing this?"

"You're damn right I am" I growled.

"Well we've come up with a theory" he continued "the glitch resets every time you die. We believe that you are the glitch"

"But how is that possible?" I muttered in disbelief. I'm the glitch? It makes sense but at the same time I find it hard to accept.

"We believe this link's back to izuru" he stated

"Izuru" I whispered. That name sent shivers up my spine.

"it was izuru who brought the monokuma virus into the neo world" he explained "There's a chance that it caused a glitch that attached itself to your avatar" he paused  "I really let you all down. I should have inspected izuru more carefully before letting him in"

"You can't blame yourself" I touched his halogram "I-I mean izuru is the one that ruined everything" tears rolled down my cheeks.

"We have a solution" a podium appeared, showing a USB "this has been planted into your pod. It will delete your avatar from the game. I can't guarantee that you'll keep your memories or even be yourself when you wake up" he looked away sadly before giving me a comforting smile "good luck. I know you'll be able to do it this time" with that it turned to black. I stared into the empty screen determinedly. Memories or not this ends now.

*Time skip*

I stood by the graduation button, ready to press it along with everyone else. They'd accepted what they'd done and were ready to move on towards a bright future. As my hand moved closer to the button I froze, a realisation hitting me.

Chaiki. This time I really would be losing her forever.

I hesitated. I don't know if I can do this. Killing her off, forgetting she ever existed. It was too cruel!

"What's the hold up hajime?" Akane asked.

I lowered my head "I don't know if I can do this. Chaiki. We'll be losing her forever"

The others also started to hesitate. All except kazuichi.

"Get a hold of yourself hajime!" He slammed his fist down, causing me to look up "being in this place again. It's made me remember more. I remember how selfless chaki was, always putting our needs before her own. You really think she'd want us to stay here for her sake!?"

"I never thought I'd say this but the dumbass is right" fuyuhiko nodded "we fought so damn hard. We can't throw it all away!"

One by one everyone began to agree. I felt like such an idiot. This is what I've been striving for this whole time. I can't falture now!

"Kazuichi, fuyuhiko thank you" I nodded to the boys before turning back to the button with a smile "let's do this"

"Wait" junko called out to us "you don't know what's out there. Why not stay in the game where it's safe and you're all yourselves? I could even make it more fun for you. Add new level's, all that stuff!"

"No" I glared at the girl "we're done living a lie. We're ready to face reality together!" With that we all pressed the graduation button.

"All my hard work and careful planning down the drain. Ahh what a feeling this is" we heard her voice fade away as everything turned to white.

The fifteen of us reached out and held hands. Whatever awaits us out there we'll face it together..
