"The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout..." I sang, my voice trailing off as I yawned. "Down came the something and washed the little dude out."

"Rain," He supplied, his eyes on the road. "You did not just forget the word rain."

"You underestimate me, sir." I said, stretching my arms out.

"All I asked for was some music. Is that the only thing you could think of?" He chuckled.

"My phone was dead and I panicked, okay?"

We've been driving for hours. With no destination and no end in sight. For all I knew he could be driving us around in circles. It would still be an improvement over my life before this. The sun had set a while ago and the stars were out in full force. The quiet was comforting.

"We've been on this road for years, are we finally somewhere yet?" I mumbled, leaning my head against the cool window of the McLaren.

"It's only been a few hours," He said, his eyes never leaving the road. "But you're right, we should find somewhere to crash."

"Crash?" I echoed. "Is that code for something more dramatic than a nap?"

He just smirked at me. "You're hilarious when you're tired."

"Thanks, I'll add it to the list of things that make me adorable," I said with a yawn. "I want a shower."

"I miss the little things," he said thoughtfully. "Like walls."

"What do you call these?" I asked tapping the door of the car. "Boom. Flipped it on you. But you're going to miss this when we have to sell it to survive and we live in a cardboard box. Much less luxurious."

"Look, there's a motel," I pointed out, my eyes growing heavier by the second.

"It's not exactly the Ritz," he said, eyeing the neon sign.

"But it's got walls! You love walls. Remember?" I said, trying to keep my eyes open. "And a bed, hopefully. One without wheels."

"Alright, alright. You win." He said with a sigh. "But you're paying."

"With what?" I protested. "The last of my dignity?"

He chuckled, "Sorry, I forgot you don't have any left. My bad."

"That's low, bro. But since you have money I'm going to let it slide."

We pulled into the motel parking lot, the car's headlights casting eerie shadows on the peeling paint and flickering neon lights. The place looked like it had seen better days, but in my current state, it looked like the Taj Mahal.
