"Deck the halls with bows of holly, la la la la la la la la LA! Something something something something TRALALALALA LA LA LA LA!"

I burst through the door, singing Christmas carols at the top of my lungs, bags sliding down my arms to land on the floor with a thump.

"Honey, I'm hooooome!" I called.

Silence.

"What did you do?" I asked immediately.

"Nothing!" The guiltiest voice called back from the kitchen.

I kicked off my shoes and almost skipped to the kitchen. The smell of something sweet and buttery filled the air, and I couldn't help but smile. There he was, Lando, standing in the kitchen, his face a mix of guilt and trepidation.

The kitchen was a disaster. Flour was scattered across the counters, and dishes stacked high. Lando stood in the center of the chaos, his eyes wide and a look of utter concentration on his face.

"What on earth have you been doing?" I gasped out, trying to hold back my laughter.

"Okay, before you say anything, keep in mind that you like me. And I'm nice. And I did this for you," Lando warned, stepping aside to reveal even more of the chaos that was the kitchen.

The sight that met me was like nothing I had ever seen. There was flour everywhere. On the counters, the floor, the fridge. It looked like a snowstorm had hit our kitchen and decided to stay a while. And through the oven door I could see a baking sheet filled with what looked like... cookies?

"How the hell did you get flour on the plant?" I snorted with laughed, looking at the potted plant in the corner, now covered in a dusting of white.

"I don't want to talk about it."

"You've got some on your nose." I laughed, wiping it away with a finger. "So, did a tornado drop in for tea?"

"There was a wasp." He mumbled.

"A wasp?"

"A big one!" He exclaimed dramatically, "It was going for the sugar and I had to protect the cookies."

"Heroic," I said, trying to keep a straight face.

"Very heroic," he nodded gravely, "It was a battle to the death."

"I'm sure the cookies are worth it," I said, peeking into the oven. They were definitely cooking, and smelling heavenly.

"Well, I hope so. It's the least I could do, after leaving you all alone to spend all my money." He grinned, his eyes lighting up at my laughter.
