"Talk."

I blinked away the last of my sleep, the early morning light filtering through the windows of the car.

He looked worried. I knew I hadn't said much on the way home. I had just felt... overwhelmed.

"Cassi," he said, his voice gentle. "You've been quiet. I don't like it."

"I'm fine," I murmured.

Lando shot me a sideways glance. "You haven't said a word since we left. That's not fine."

"I'm just...thinking," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

I sat up in the passenger seat, wiping the last of the sleep from my eyes. The rain had stopped, leaving the world looking fresh and new. I felt anything but.

"Tell me," Lando said, his eyes never leaving the road. "Just... talk to me, Firefly."

"I don't know what to say," I admitted. "My thoughts are all jumbled."

He was quiet for a moment, his hand resting on the gear stick. "You don't have to tell me everything," he said. "But I need to know you're okay. That I didn't..." He trailed off, his eyes flicking to me before returning to the road.

"You didn't do anything," I said quickly, my voice a little too quiet. "You've been... amazing."

He glanced at me, his eyes searching. "Then why are you so quiet?"

"I just... I don't know how to explain it." I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. I sighed. "I'm not used to it."

"Used to what?" Lando's eyes remained on the road, his grip on the steering wheel tight.

"To... feeling like this," I whispered, looking out the window. The world outside was a blur of green and gray, the rain leaving everything looking cleaner than it had in weeks.

He didn't push it, and for that I was grateful. He knew I needed space, and for a moment, I just sat there, listening to the sound of the car's engine and the rhythmic beat of the wipers. When we pulled up to the house, I was already out of the car, running towards the door. I didn't want to think anymore. I just wanted to wash the rain and the emotions off of me.

As soon as I stepped inside, I kicked off my muddy shoes and shrugged off my soaked jacket, leaving a puddle on the floor.

Lando followed me into the bathroom, handing me a towel without saying a word. He knew I needed this. He left me alone to shower, giving me space. The hot water washed over me, steaming the small room as I let out a sigh of relief. It washed away the rain, the mud, and some of the heaviness that clung to me from the night. As I stepped out of the shower, the fluffy towel wrapped around me, I felt a little more like myself.
