Time, space, reality. It was all an object, a wall easily ignored and bypassed. All it took was a mental push and refined focus.
Y/N sat in a dome of cracked glass, reality pushing down on his domain yet with only enough force to keep the pocket of space on its back leg.
He sat for what felt like hours, wasting away at his stored time. For each time he skipped through space, he accumulated it, storing it away to eventually free it. And so after years of skipping time, he had hours, maybe even days to himself where he could do nothing but meditate and wait.
His ultimate goal was to only leave a few seconds up his sleeve. If, and it was a strong if, he were to be All for One's weapon, he couldn't allow himself to run free with such power.
Maybe one second is more feasible.
Maybe half a second, maybe a quarter. His head swam with ideas, strategies to be deployed.
He recalled his past battles, the feeling of a punch being landed, a gust of wind grazing his cheek. In meditation, he relived it all as if it were happening now. It was the only experience he could call upon right now, though he wished he could see another Nomu, another quirk All for One had in store.
His eyes flicked open as a cold gust of wind touched his face. He was so engrossed in thought he hadn't realized he had used up all his time.
"Done already?" Nemuri smiled. She settled deeper into her chair, having just sat down.
"Yeah." Y/N sighed, steadying the adrenaline coursing through his veins. "I lost track of time. I used up all of mine."
"How long was it?" She asked, resting her head on a bent elbow. "If you could guess."
"Hours." He said, raising his hand to show his unwavering focus and a fine layer of sweat on his skin. "It could've been a whole day."
"It doesn't hurt?" She asked, mildly concerned. She knew of the amount of energy it took for him to use his quirk, and the amount he used to sustain such a state.
"I could get something to eat." He grunted and stood with Nemuri scanning his form, taking in each crease of his clothes and the sweat beading down his temple.
"Uh-huh." She nodded with an absent raise of her brows.
"Food." He murmured. "Not you."
"I wasn't thinking that!" She grabbed a cushion and tossed it, but Y/N could see the scarlet blooming on her cheeks.
"Sure." He said dryly. He caught the cushion and set it back in place before sauntering to the kitchen.
"I was not!"
When the red from her cheeks reseeded, Nemuri fixed him with a stare. She was lost in thought for a moment, the air around her becoming crackly, energetic with curiosity.
She knew a lot of other people felt what she felt right now. But even when she was in arm's reach, she didn't have any answers for what she just witnessed.
Maybe, she thought, maybe he could help some think tank crack the code to his quirk, to the very understanding of their universe. They could jump leaps and bounds in science. Or maybe not. It was interesting to think about.
She stood from the couch and followed, wrapping her arms around his waist, content with whatever meal he would whip together so late at night. For her it was just another weekend.

Within the span of one second two things happen. In the back of his head Y/N could feel the vibrations in the floor of hurried footsteps. A millisecond passes and his brain goes into overdrive, snapping him out of sleep and pumping blood throughout his body.
