Y/N had to admit, it was a relief to no longer hide who he was. But still, in a busy place like a police station, he preferred to not cause any problems for the hard-working people inside.
It's why he met Tsukauchi on the roof, where only a few think-tank detectives and relaxing officers hung out during their breaks. And as per usual, they looked from afar but never approached.
Looking over the city, the trusted detective heard a sudden crunch of gravel behind him, which was accompanied by a warm and dwelling air.
"You have it?" Y/N asked, standing at his side.
"Yeah..." Tsukauchi murmured with his eyes avoiding Y/N's. "Although, this may not be the best place to discuss this."
Almost immediately after he said that, he was within a dome of shimmering, cracked air. Y/N's quirk.
"Who'd it come back to?" The hero asked with a stone-like expression.
"Here." A manila folder was laid in Y/N's hand. "I don't have any other way to break it to you."
Giving Tsukauchi one final glance, he opened it, revealing a testament of charts, numbers, and identities. There was a moment of pause where Y/N's mind finally caught up to what he saw. And when he did a double-take, he set the file on the lip of the roof.
"Do you have any idea who it may be?" The detective asked solemnly.
"No." The Hero replied with a thoughtful gaze at the frozen city. "As far as I know, I'm an only child and my parents are dead."
Tsukauchi gave the open file another glance, hoping a spark of thought would come to him. But alas, he only stared at the names in silence.
The alignment of names and DNA strands only pointed to two individuals. Endo Riku, a reformed criminal who had gone missing in Hosu City last month. And since his name was on file, so was his quirk, a Shape-Shifting emitter.
The other name, and the most prominent in the tests, even matching in blood type, was unknown. The signs only pointed to one possibility. The creature was a woman and a close relative to Y/N.
"An aunt, perhaps?" Tsukauchi asked in a murmur. "Or a..."
"I couldn't tell you." The hero muttered, stumped more than heartbroken. Which the detective should have honestly expected rather than being surprised.
"Do you have anything to add?" The detective figuratively tiptoed through this subject. "Anything at all."
"Yeah..." Y/N sighed. "It—she didn't have an explosive quirk as I thought... She has one of mine, the ability to manipulate natural energy."
It wasn't uncommon for a parent to pass down one of their quirks to their children, it was rarer for them to combine. Which brought Y/N to a grim hypothesis.
"She may have been my sister." His brows furrowed, growing concerned. "If there's more of them out there, then that only leaves two possible quirks. And if they managed to come together, we'll have another me on our hands..."
"I-is there a way to detect it?" His friend stammered.
The detective had never seen the aftermath of Y/N's work, that pile of paperwork was left to the government, and he doubted it even existed anymore.
"There is." The hero offered a curt nod. "Myocardial infarction. It would look like a heart attack or a stroke. Any other way is too suspicious. No, it has to look natural."
"Well—that could be anyone." Tsukauchi muttered, rubbing his forehead. "Are you sure there isn't any other way??"
"Hypothetically..." Y/N murmured, crossing his arms in thought. "With enough practice, it could be an aneurysm."
