Flying through the open sky at breakneck speeds was always so calming to Y/N. He was just above the cloud line, looking down upon the seemingly endless ocean.
There was a sort of curious dread welling up within him like his quirk's power came with underlying news, news that he feared yet wanted to uncover.
His destination was far below. What looked to be a small dot in the wide-open blue was beginning to grow larger by the second.
I-Island. Home to the research of quirks and development of new support tool technology.
The massive, man-made structure moved along the water, keeping its location a secret for the safety of the scientists and other specialists in fields of research.
One such person was David Shield. A close friend since Y/N's childhood.
Similar to how Toshinori gauged his power in earlier years, David had done the same.
His genius helped Y/N with his quirks. Testing their capabilities and unfolding their mysteries.
Now, just like before, he needed his help. It would be the first time since the young age of fifteen that he visited on a more serious note.
Y/N was curious about his power after going unchecked for so long. The sudden awakening of his quirk happened before and he wouldn't be surprised if it had happened again, right under his nose at that.
Lowering his altitude, Y/N split a mass of clouds right in two. He caught the attention of the island's residents when he slowed down and a sonic boom caught up to him.
Gliding through the sky, he could see bright, vibrant colors in a large portion of the moving behemoth.
I-Expo...
The event wasn't currently taking place, but the sight of its grounds brought back pleasant memories.
Passing right over the expo, he approached a massive tower settled right in the middle of the island.
His flight suddenly cut and he adjusted mid-fall for his plummet. He landed with only slightly bent knees.
Quickly sliding his cap over his head, he ignored the curious stares of the surrounding crowd and slipped right through.
He was the furthest one from strange on the island. Specially equipped and mutated quirk users were zipping back and forth through the lobby.
Seated in a far corner, away from prying eyes, was David Shield, enjoying a day's break and also in wait.
Aqua blue eyes behind a frame of glasses caught his tall figure through the busy lobby, causing his lips to curl into a wide grin.
"Hey!" He shouted, throwing a hand in the air and waving it. "Over here!"
Seeing a glimpse of a smile, David chuckled. Before long, Y/N sat before him in an open seat with a sigh.
"You got half the island scared." David opened up the conversation. "Your speed was... outta this world."
"It's good to know the other half isn't trying to arrest me."
"Yeah, no kidding." Flipping a tablet he had in his hand, David showed Y/N a wide map of the surrounding ocean and nearby masses of land.
The hidden hero furrowed his brows to see a red dot trailing from Japan to where they now sat.
"Thirty-seven hundred kilometers an hour!" David exclaimed, referring to a number attached to the red bogey. "Security would've had a field day with this."
"That's slower than most things." Y/N brushed off, readjusting the brim of his hat.
"True," David replied with a side bob of his head. "But that's nearly three times faster than what I remember."
