"Is this illegal, too?"
Y/N heard the voice in his ear. It was laced with mild concern and humor.
"Maybe." Y/N replied in a hushed tone before checking the time.
"Huh..." Sophia remained silent as she watched the scene before her.
Nearly two dozen vehicles were parked in front of the building surrounded by mechanics and engineers, all specially made for quirk deterrence and detaining while maintaining a non-lethal outcome.
It was a grand sight to behold. Sophia's eyes were wide in awe. People from all around Japan gathered to end a regime before it even started.
It was inspiring since the modern age of quirks people who were quirkless decided to join the force, proving their hardened resolve.
The authorities believed quirks could be used as weapons, so they refused anyone who used them, making every officer quirkless.
It brought a smile to her face, knowing they excelled at something without powers. They were as much a symbol as All Might and even Y/N.
There was a good possibility that Y/N's cover would be blown. An operation of this size is only destined to be leaked. His presence would be unveiled to not only Japan but to the entire world.
"You know." Sophia started and Y/N sighed. He knew what she was going to say. "Maybe staying hidden isn't as effective as being announced."
"We've been over this." Y/N said sternly.
"I know, I know." Sophia muttered. She then spoke clearly and with sincerity. "People need heroes, Y/N. Look at All Might..."
"There isn't much to compare between him and me." Y/N replied after a moment.
"You're both heroes; that's something that matters." She said softly. "He can barely make it two hours a day for the past five years. Even then, he's still this rock that people look up to..."
Y/N remained silent; his eyes drifting to the floor as she spoke. Her words were wise, and he knew it. Yet, he wanted nothing more than to be with his family.
"What's that thing called...?" She asked herself in a whisper but relented to something else. "You're like polar opposites, but you have so much in common... So much more than you realize."
Maybe you're right.
"...We should see the—" She interrupted him with mild frustration.
"Don't—!" Sophia paused as she exhaled. She clenched her fist as she calmed herself. "Don't do that. The world needs All Might and Hit to give people hope and save them from fear itself... I know he isn't with us anymore... But Samuel would agree."
Y/N's eyes softened at the mention of such an old but profound name.
"We'll talk about this later." Y/N said firmly and with a hint of warmth.
She was silent for a moment and grateful Y/N was finally open for reason. She then spoke in a quiet but relieved tone.
"Okay..."
Y/N released a slow, deep sigh. He uncrossed his arms and stuck them in his costume pockets, then began walking through the parking lot and into the building. The mechanics and engineers were much too busy to notice him.
Surrounding workers stopped dead in their tracks as they spotted the retired hero. A once-bustling crowd of police officers had gone silent, their eyes widened, and their voices died in their throats.
His boots thumped against the tiled floor and more and more raised their heads and stood to the side as he walked past. Their eyes widened as they saw his aged features and larger physique. He was no longer a young adult but a mature man.
