Find Me (Art x Fem!Reader)

Chapter 4: 1 year later.

You waited. You patiently waited for him to do something, but months passed... And there was no sign of him. The more time passed, the more desperate you became. You lost count of how many times you've watched the evidence tapes. You lost count of how many times you compared his fingerprints and DNA with others. You lost count on how many pictures of him and his crimes were on your lead board, connected with red string. 

Every day that passed without any news from Art was like torture for you. Was he making fun of you again? He wanted to see you fall into desperation as you waited for a new trail, or so you thought. 

In reality, he was waiting for the angel to show up. 

One year passed since the Miles County Masacre of 2017. 

During that time, you did everything you could. You even talked to Victoria Heyes once she was released from the psychiatric hospital she was sent to after the trauma the attack had left her, but she could only just assure you Art was dead. 

You knew he was not. 

And after seeing the results of the interview Heyes did with Monica Brown, you thanked god that you didn't insist with your questions. 

And after all that waiting, a new body appeared at a costume party shop. Once the tapes were sent to you, you immediately knew it was him. A smile appeared on your face as you played the tape, watching your clown encounter two girls before the kill. You quietly laughed as you saw him play around, mess with one of the girls and then mess with the victim after she had left. 

The brutal kill of the costume store employee did not disappoint you. But then, a small detail caught your eye. After the guy was dead, Art looked at the camera. He acknowledged your presence, he waved at the camera and quietly laughed at you. He was taunting you. Making fun of your one year wait. 

It was like he knew you haven't left the case untouched, even after a year. It made you smile. He also cared about you, in a weird way. 

After the tape ended, you watched it again, pausing it to analyze what was happening. The way Art acted with that one girl called your attention. It was different. It wouldn't have been hard for him to kill both her and the employee, so maybe he was keeping her alive for a reason, or that's what you thought. Your job required to analyze every expression shown on the tape, and something was off. You immediately asked someone to identify the girls in the footage. 

Sienna Shaw and Allie Thompson. 

You decided to investigate the girls on your own, starting by Sienna Shaw, a decision you would later regret. 

But at least, this time, you were right behind him. You were close to seeing him face to face. 

You dared to go alone, without backup, just with the meat cleaver you stole from the clown and your police gun. Maybe you would die, but after a year analyzing Art, you had a theory. 

If you were to come face to face with him, the best you could do is keep your cool and act relaxed. Monsters like Art enjoyed screams, they enjoyed chases and most importantly, they liked fear. If you saw Art and he tried to get rid of you, you would make it as less enjoyable for him as possible. 

As for Art, finally you had managed to peak his interest. He was quick to find thanks to his new companion that you had discovered his target. Knowing he couldn't go for Sienna at the moment, he shifted his attention towards Allie... And he had a bloody surprise planned.  He longed to see your reaction. Would you be terrified? Would you blame yourself? Would you break down? 

He would soon find out all about it. He would soon get rid of you and show you that you could never win against him. 

Terrorizing you was a small mission that came across his way, just to prevent you from protecting Sienna. 

After a few hours investigating the girl and asking her about her encounter with Art, you decided to let her be. She seemed nervous and scared at your question, so you decided to keep silent about the murder of the employee, and tell her she knew about the encounter due to a witness. 

And so it was time to move to Allie Thompson. It was late already, so you had to move fast. 

The sooner you got Allie's version of the events, the sooner you could go back to keeping an eye on Sienna. 

A terrifying scene was waiting for you already there, with a clown patiently waiting for you to arrive.
