You arrived at Allie's home. You knocked the door. No response. You knocked again. No response. You knocked a third time. No one came. After a few more tries you decided to look around, and found a broken window. Your psycho had already acted. You took out your gun and carefully entered. The home was fully dark, so you started to turn on the lights. Near the entrance, on top of a small table was an empty head, full of candy. Your eyes analyzed it before coming closer to touch it. It felt real. You had come across a dead body. A chuckle escaped you as you observed the work he had done. A reaction he was not expecting you to have. You slowly put down your gun and took out your walkie talkie, requesting backup at the crime scene right away. You felt those eyes on you, you knew you were not alone.
Your grip on the gun tightened as you lifted it up again, protecting yourself. You took some candy from the head and moved on, looking around for the rest of the body... You were amazed at the skills this monster had... And then a sound came from upstairs. The smart thing to do here would be to get out and find somewhere crowded to wait for the backup to arrive... But you wanted to see him. You wanted him to see you. You wanted to test him.
So up the stairs you went, a metallic smell becoming present. You followed it towards a room.
And there it laid... The body of Allie Thompson, completely disfigured and destroyed. You let down your gun as you softly gasped, looking at the scene your clown had prepared for you. It almost felt as a gift. It was absolutely horrifying, but at the same time, fascinating... You couldn't help but feel admiration to the creativity this guy had. He was perfect.
He was what you had asked for. The monster you wanted.
You approached the bed, feeling something watching you. He was still there. He had waited for you. You felt honored.
You took a deep breath and analyzed the body up close. You touched the wrist for a pulse, but nothing, although it would be a miracle if she was still alive in that state. The blood didn't seem that dry, so the scene was about an hour ago perhaps... You looked around, the pink walls of the room painted red. Your eyes soon landed on the door you had gone through a few minutes ago.
-"I know you're there..." You taunted him, feeling his eyes on you from there. You wanted to come closer, to let him capture you, but you decided to look back at Allie's dead body.
-"I had never seen something like this... After all my years of experience. I dreamed of the day someone like you would show up, to make my job a little bit more interesting... I guess monsters like you are fascinating. You do it just for fun, don't you?" You spoke, admiration filling your voice. To Art's surprise, you were not horrified. You were not afraid. You were... Praising him. Something was clearly wrong with you as well. He silently laughed and slowly moved out of his hiding place.
Finally, you saw him moving. You saw him alive. He was there. You dropped your gun, putting your hands up so he knew you weren't planning on fighting back to him. Instead, you slowly took out your precious meat cleaver, and offered it to the clown. You wanted him to know you had kept it with you all this time.
What was wrong with you?
That was a question that ran through both of your minds.
You couldn't bring yourself to hurt him. Your life was so boring without him, without his trace, without his kills. You needed him. He was your match, your headache, the nemesis you so badly wanted... If you actually managed to win this and he never came back, the emptiness that would follow would be too much to bare. Without him to obsess over, what were you going to do?
Meanwhile Art was finally giving you the attention you desired. What a strange person, it almost reminded him of himself. Maybe you both shared a sense of humor, a taste for a different kind of art. He tilted his head, his smile as wide as ever as he was amused at your expression, absolutely no fear present. It bothered him, he wanted to kill you, see you cry, beg and scream, make you regret ever trying to capture him, but instead, you were letting him have you. That confused him so much, and also just as you expected, it ruined the fun for him. At the same time, it peaked his interest though.
Did you have it in you to kill someone? Were you capable of doing so?
Were you a monster too?
You were almost one. If Art's case hadn't arrived to your hands, you would've lost your mind. You knew that. You would've became your own nemesis, just for fun.
You had forgotten about those thoughts, about your previous plans when Art came, but now, they were rushing back. A part of you was a monster, just like him.
Awkward silence filled the room as you observed each other, as your minds wandered. Meeting him made you want to cry from happiness. You snapped out of it when he took the meat cleaver and smiled at you. If Allie's death scene wasn't enough to break you, then he would have to do it himself.
You knew what was going to come, yet you weren't terrified. You wanted to see how it played out.
You could see him charging at you. As much as you wanted to see what he could do, you decided to dodge. You dropped down and rolled away quickly, just as the blade slid towards you. You managed to dodge flawlessly. All that training wasn't for nothing.
Art looked back at you, his smile disappearing from a moment before changing to an expression of... respect. You were something, better than what he expected.
Another quick swing came flying towards you, then another and another... He had changed strategies. One second of distraction, and the blade would hit you. With nothing to defend yourself, trying to survive as long as possible was the only option. Too bad your admiration for him kept playing against you. You couldn't stop looking at your genius, at the perfect monster in front of you. He was amazing.
And then you felt it. A sharp pain on your chest. The blade had managed to touch you and hurt you. Your hands went to the wound, feeling the blood pour out slowly. It hurt, but it could've been worse. Art's eyes analyzed you, looking for any signs of fear, but still nothing. You seemed... happy.
The clown used the weapon again and landed another slash, now on your stomach. You winced in pain, but continued to smile, weakly backing up from him to prevent from getting anymore hurt. He followed, his expression seemingly troubled. The lack of fear made it much more boring.
Yet the struggle continued. He managed to leave deep wounds on you, making you feel weaker and weaker as more blood was lost. You decided to give up. Maybe you would never figure out who your clown was, but you had earned his respect. That was enough for you.
Before he could hurt you more, you stumbled forward and wrapped your arms around him, hugging him tightly. He took the chance to slash your back over and over, causing you to cough and wince in pain, but nothing more. No screams, no terror.
-"Thank you..." You whispered, holding onto him. Holding onto the clown you had investigated for a long time. It felt as you knew him personally. "Thank you for... entertaining me..." You finished your phrase.
As your words sunk in, he strangely stopped attacking you. You were deeply hurt, but he knew he hadn't done anything precisely lethal to you. You were somewhat funny, or at least, comprehensive. You understood his humor.
Maybe keeping you alive would be far more interesting, he wanted to see what would you become. He wanted to see if you had it in you.
Art pushed you away, causing you to fall onto the floor. He went through his trash bag, taking out a syringe. Before you knew it, he put you to sleep, his typical grin you had watched so many times being the last thing you saw before you lost consciousness.
The clown dragged your unconscious body towards the entrance of the house, leaving you there for the police to find you. Hidden in your bag, he left the meat cleaver you had stolen from him a year ago.
Once the back up you requested arrived, he had already disappeared.
You were immediately taken to the hospital.
