"happy christmas!" jiseok exclaimed as he opened the door. then he laughed, overwhelmed - gunil's present was packed in a huge box.
gunil held it horizontally, clamped between his arm and his body. "happy christmas to you, too, lovely. aren't your parents home?"
jiseok shook his head. "at church. then they have a meeting, i'm home alone till 8pm." being alone in jiseok's house was amazing.
not only because they could be as loud as they wanted (in whatever context it is imaginable), but also because they could use the fireplace in jiseok's living room.
igniting the flames, jiseok quickly rushed to his room to get gunil's present. "come with me."
jiseok hopped up the stairs to his room, gunil following him in a slower pace. then he received the task to take his vinyl player.
they made themselves comfortable across the fireplace, the embers warming them up from the surprisingly snowy day.
jiseok gave gunil the present. "i was so unsure you'd like it" the younger exclaimed, hugging his legs to his chest.
ripping up the wrapper, gunil instantly gasped as he realised the content - a new skateboard.
"you did not- oh my god!" unpacking the gift, gunil looked at it with adoration. the deck had a customised design - a graffiti text, stating "THE BADDEST BITCH" in the brightest neon pink one could imagine.
gunil broke down in laughter. "it's amazing!" he praised jiseok's choice, taking a closer look as he touched the wheels and felt the material. "it's the perfect board. thank you so much, love."
jiseok chuckled and pulled gunil in a hug, pecking his cheek. "i'm glad you like it."
then it was his turn to unpack. the box was a plain white, in comparison to the christmas themed wrapper that was ripped off pretty quickly.
opening the present, jiseok's jaw dropped. the one metre box was entirely filled with red and white roses, chocolate bars and different kinds of candy stuffed in between.
"it looks so beautiful.." jiseok exclaimed, not believing what he just saw. instinctively he grabbed one chocolate bar and turned it around to look at the nutrition facts. just to find out that gunil has scribbled all over it with a black marker, making it unreadable.
so he thought of it? jiseok looked up at the elder, who looked back at him with an excited smile. "there's more."
more? jiseok first went to the kitchen to grab a vase, starting to put all the roses in it until he had a pretty bouquet. gunil received a kiss on his forehead.
"how can there be more?" the boy asked, confused. the carton floor was visible as soon as he removed every single flower and put aside every single sweet treat.
the box was empty. that's what he thought. "you can lift it, honey." then jiseok saw the small hole where he could put his finger in to lift the lid.
what was waiting for him? opening it just a few inches, jiseok saw a glimpse of his actual present. and he closed it again.
"shut up" he shouted, looking up at gunil with gaping lips. "shut. up. what the fuck no, you didn't just buy me a fucking guitar?!"
then he removed the carton entirely, revealing the guitar the elder gifted him. a red fender strat, the exact model jiseok has been aching to buy for months.
and now he possessed it. "gunil- no- i can't accept this... it's too expensive!" the latter just shook his head, prisoning jiseok's cheeks between his hands.
"but i know it's in good hands, right? besides, it's not like i'm someone who spends his money without a reason.
happy christmas, lovely. i love you."
