My due date was just around the corner and our baby girl was soon to be here. We were waiting on Jesse to come home from work. He only went because the kids were home to help me with things. "Hey, my three beautiful children and my beautiful beautiful wife." Jesse said. I chuckled and he kissed me. "How's the star of the show today?" He asked. "Good. No wicked kicking. Just cravings." I said and he chuckled.
I snuck out for pizza while Jesse was sleeping because he kept trying to fall asleep so I just told him to go to bed before we started the movie night. I saw a couple fighting outside. I continued to wait for the pizza and the woman came to sit by me also waiting. "Husbands, am I right?" She asked and I didn't know how to respond. "I'm sorry. I just needed to let it out." She said and giggled. "It's fine." "Are you married?" She asked. "Uh, yeah, 19 years." I told her. "Wow. That's long." She said. "Yeah. I'm sorry, I didn't say anything but I didn't know what to say because me and my husband never fight. Not to brag, it's just I'm not good at advice like that." I told her.
"You've never fought your entire relationship?" "No. We did while we were friends in college but that was it. I'm Lara Jean." I told her finally introducing myself. "Clara. When are you due?" "Oh, in a few days. I only snuck out of my house because I needed the fresh air and my husband is very protective and he doesn't like me doing anything without help because he's afraid I might fall or something." I explained. "We should like, get together sometime. With our husbands if that's what you want." She suggested. "Sure." I said kind of awkwardly but I gave her my number. I said goodbye and left.
After the movie ended, Jesse and I were in bed. I was having some trouble sleeping and it was about 5:30 in the morning. I got up to use the bathroom. "Hey, you need help?" He asked, getting up. "No, I'm fine. Go back to bed." I told him. After I used the bathroom, I got some water because I was extremely thirsty and as I was about to walk back to the bedroom, I heard a splash on the floor. I looked down and my water broke. I stood there for a minute and I felt my contractions kick in. "Jess!" I called out. "Jesse!" I called out again and he came running down the stairs. "Come on, let's go to the hospital." He said. I was practically crying on the way over because of how painful it was. It's been 17 years since I've felt these.
An hour, 6:45, our baby came. The kids came a little before too. I let Jesse name her. Kristin Jessica Ivannah Swanson. He wouldn't stop smiling at her while he was holding her. The kids walked in. "Hi." I said to them and they both hugged me. "Is that her?" Claire asked. "No, your father took her from another mother." I said sarcastically and she chuckled. Claire held her first. "Wait, what's her name?" She asked. "Kristin Jessica Ivannah Swanson. Your father's pick." I told her and she smiled. Justin held her too. "If you get a boyfriend, I'm gonna beat him up the first chance I get." He told Kristin and I laughed.
"Good job, babe." Jesse told me as he sat down on the bed. The girls walked in too. The doctor too. "Do you want all these girls here?" He asked. "It's fine. They're my sister's." I said. "All ten of them?!" He asked and I chuckled. "Yeah. You're looking at 4 time collegiate acapella champions. Plus me." I said and he chuckled then walked out. "He's beautiful." Amy said. "She." I corrected. "Average." She said and I gasped. "What's her name?" Aubrey asked. "Kristin." I told them.
After a few days we were discharged. Jesse also came up with a nickname. Missy. I was surprised I didn't hear her cry and I woke up with my ears feeling funny. Jesse had put earplugs in them. I went downstairs where everyone was. "Jess, did you put earplugs in my ears as I was sleeping?" I asked. "No.." He said and I snickered. "Liar." "I wanted you to get your rest. Which you did and you should be saying, "Jesse, you're the best husband and father in the entire world. Thank you for taking care of Missy and putting earplugs in my ears." Now quit complaining and eat your oatmeal." He said and I chuckled. "Jesse, you're the best husband and father in the entire world. Thank you for taking care of Missy and putting earplugs in my ears." I told him and kissed him. "That's more like it." He said. "Did you feed her through your nipples?" Justin asked and I burst out laughing.
