Me and Jesse were sleeping and I felt eyes on me which woke me up. He was staring at me and smiling. "Go to bed, weirdo." I told him. "I like seeing you like this." He whispered. "Like what?" "Happy. Now that Ethan's back, it feels like you're a whole new person which is a good thing and you're sleeping better." He said and I chuckled. "Really?" I asked. "Really." He said. "God, you're beautiful." He told me. "Are these your midnight thoughts?" I asked. "Pretty much." He said and we quietly laughed.
"You know you're right. I am happy because I have my two best friends in my life. I had no idea my life would turn out to be like this. But I'm glad it did." I said and he smiled. "You met me as a girl who had no care in the world for basically everyone in my life after I thought I lost Ethan. And I pushed you away which was... probably one of the worst things I did." I told him. "Mm." "You're actually an ass when you're mad which pisses me off." I said and he chuckled. He gently kissed my head before putting his arm over my waist. "Yeah, that's right, go to bed, Swanson." I said and he chuckled again. I started kissing him and he literally flipped me over and I laughed. "Jess!" He kissed me again.
The next morning
I woke up and I thought Jesse was still sleeping but he wasn't. I went downstairs and Ethan was making breakfast. "Hey, Ace. I'm making pancakes." He said. "Okay." I said and got coffee. "Where's Jesse?" I asked. "Right here." He said then hugging me from behind. "There he is. I found him." I said sarcastically and he chuckled.
"I have to go grocery shopping later. Who wants what?" I asked. "Deodorant." Justin said. "Toothpaste." Claire added. "Coffee." Jesse said and I chuckled. I looked to my brother. "I'm good." "Okay. After breakfast I'll go." I told them. I got the store and was just browsing away. My phone started ringing. It was Theo. "Hey, you. What's going on?" I asked. "Well, I'm back in town and maybe thought you'd wanna catch up." He suggested. "You know, that's actually a good idea. I have something to tell you." I told him. "Can't wait. Meet me at the Urban Grind in an hour?" "Yes, I will. See you there." I told him then hung up.
I got home. "Okay, uh, Theo asked me to meet up for coffee in ten minutes but I'll try not to be gone long." "Who's Theo?" Ethan asked. "I worked with him for awhile in my music production days and he's back in town and asked me to get coffee and I agreed so.." I told him. "I actually have to go now because it's pretty far." "That's fine. We got everything here." Jesse said. "Okay. Bye, again." I said then kissed him.
"Hey." I said to him as I walked. "Hey." He said and we hugged. "So, what's going on with you?" He asked and I chuckled. "Things are good. More than good. My brother is back. Apparently he had some trouble with these guys before he "died." He's been with us for about a week now and it's great. I can sleep better, I'm much happier and my life just feels...complete." I told him. "That's amazing. There's actually a reason I asked you to meet up." He told me and I was curious. "Why did you? I mean, it's great, you know because we've been friends for so long now." I told him. He quietly chuckled. "I--You know how, I've got to be honest--I really like this catching up thing between us.." "I feel like there's a "but" coming." I told him.
"But, I really like you, Lara Jean." He said which definitely caught me off guard. I couldn't say anything. I closed my eyes tightly wishing it was a dream and he ended up kissing me while my eyes were closed. "What are you doing?" I asked him. "I--" "This was nice while it lasted, but I can't say I feel the same." "You still feel the same way for Jesse after all these years?" "Yeah, I do. I'd never do that to him. I can't find another guy like Jesse if we ever split up which it won't happen. I've been with him since I was 18 years old and it's gonna stay like that. With all due respect but I was never interested from the start. I just thought we were two friends or old coworkers...Bye, Theo." I told him then leaving.
I went home and I couldn't stop thinking about what Theo did and said. I had no idea he felt that way about me. "Hey, how was coffee with Theo?" Jesse asked. "Weird." I told him. "How weird?" He asked. I exhaled. "Turns out since we met, he's had feelings for me but didn't tell me until we got coffee but I didn't even stay long enough to get coffee. I closed my eyes tightly in such disbelief and he had the audacity to kiss me." I told him and sighed. "He kissed you?" "Yeah. I obviously pushed him off and I just told him I didn't feel the same way and left." I said. "Huh. That is weird." "Right?" "Hey, girl." Cynthia Rose said coming in. "Hey, guess what, Theo kissed me." I told her disappointedly. "Who's Theo?" She asked and I sighed. "Mr. Eye Contact." I said and I knew that was the only way she would know who I was talking about. She gasped. "No." "Yes! It was insane." I told her.
"He heard that." She said looking at Jesse. "I told him." "Oh." She said and he chuckled. "He's twenty three years too late." Jesse said and kissed my cheek. "True but I didn't even know. It doesn't matter though because I love you. It's always gonna be you." I told him and he smiled. "Girl, there he is, right there." She said and I looked out and Theo was walking towards our door. "What does he want now?" I asked. Jesse came behind me. "Go over there, dork." I told him and pushed his face. He chuckled. "Hey." He said as I opened it. "Hey, Mr. Eye Contact." Cynthia Rose said. "Cyn, go over there." I told her. "Don't mind her." I told him. "Lara Jean, I'm sorry." He said and looked towards the stairs. "What are you--" I saw Jesse peeking. "Jess." "Im making sure he doesn't kiss you again." He said.
"You told him?" Theo asked. "He is my husband. Theo, I had no idea you felt like that. When you kissed me, it felt...weird." "Who kissed you, Ace?" Ethan asked. "Wait, you kissed my sister? My married sister?" He asked Theo. "Ethan, but out." I told him. "I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry. I know what I did was wrong but I don't like that you told Jesse." "Why not? Why would I keep something like that from him? You can't tell me what I can and can't do. Bye." I said then closed the door. "I know you guys were listening." I told Ethan, Jesse and Cynthia Rose. "No we wasn't." Cynthia Rose said and I snickered.
I all of a sudden remembered I hadn't gotten my period yet. "Oh no." I said. "What?" Jesse asked. "I...didn't get my monthly yet." I told him. "Ooh." He said in disbelief. "I will be back." I told him. I really hope I'm not pregnant again. Missy's only 10 months. The house is already packed enough. I took a pregnancy test and I was freaking out. "I better not be pregnant again." I said as we were waiting. "I would like more kids. Our current ones are growing too fast." Jesse said. "Now I'm scared. You're too predictable." I told him and he chuckled. "I think we waited long enough." He said as a few minutes passed. "Moment of truth." I said. I took a deep breath before turning it over. I'm pregnant again. "Oh my God." I said and looked at him.
"You guys really have to stop doing it." Cynthia Rose said which actually made me laugh. "You really have to give me a neice or nephew. Oh, wait, you can't." I said sarcastically and she laughed. "Ugh. I can't believe this." "I think it's great." Jesse said. "Too predictable." I said then walking away. "Hey, guys." Claire said as she got home. I looked at Jesse. "Where's your brother?" "He's outside playing basketball." She said. "Tell him to come inside, please." I told her. "Okay." "Ethan!" I called out. "What?" He asked coming downstairs. The kids came back inside. "Uh, I can't believe I'm saying this but... I'm.. pregnant." I told them. "Again?" The kids asked. "You really have to stop knocking her up." Ethan said and I burst out laughing. "He is right, Jess." I told him. "Missy's only like, what? Ten months?" Justin asked. "Yep."
"Hopefully it's a boy this time." Justin said. "Justin's right." Jesse added. "Dad, you really have to get a vasectomy." Claire told him. "How do you even know what that is?" He asked. "Health class." "We have to got to talk to that teacher then." "Jess." I said. "Happy accidents." He said and I chuckled. He hugged me and I just couldn't believe it.
