It was my day to make breakfast and Jesse usually tries to beat me to it but I turned off our alarm. "Mom cooking?" Claire asked, walking in the kitchen. "Shh. You know your father doesn't let me but he deserves to have a break from certain things like breakfast." I said and she chuckled. Breakfast was done and Jesse was still in bed. I climbed on the bed and started kissing his face to wake him up.
He finally woke up and chuckled. "Morning." He said. "Good morning, sleepy head." I said and chuckled. "What do you mean?" He asked and looked at the clock. "I made breakfast." I said and ran to the kitchen. He followed me grabbing me by my waist and kissing my back. "Get a room." Justin said. "I can't be mad at you but there are certain things a husband has to do like make breakfast for his family." He said. "Mom said the same thing." Claire told him and I laughed.
Claire's POV
I always admired how Dad looks at Mom. The way he smiles at her like nothing else matters. He kissed her and I smiled. "I'm gonna go get some muffins from the diner. Do you guys want anything?" Mom asked. "We're good." Justin said. "Okay." She said. Dad kissed her again. "Bye, LJ." "Bye, Jess." She said then leaving. "How did you guys meet?" I asked hoping he'd tell his side of the story. Mom told us about him singing in Grandma and Grandpa's car and he was always flirting with her. He chuckled before leaning on the counter. "Well, uh, I started this internship at this radio station right across campus and as I walked in, I saw this beautiful brunette girl but I didn't even see her face yet. She turned around and it was the girl from when I first started at Barden, I sang to her and she smiled, I was always on the lookout but never saw her until the day at the radio station. I told her I knew her, she said I didn't. She was pretty harsh at first and then come auditions for the Trebles and Bella's, your mother came late and she sang, I was so struck by how she could be so beautiful and have a such a beautiful voice as well. One day, she kissed me. At the time, I didn't know that the Bella's had some oath against dating Trebles but she broke it. I was happy, sure but she didn't like to be reminded. Fast forward, I fell for her, waited, we fought, waited some more and sure enough I got her after 8 months of waiting." He explained.
"8 months?" Justin asked. "Yup. Fast forward, again, like 6 years later, we got married and you were born. I never laid my eyes on anyone but your mother after the first time I saw her. I told her we'd have kids, she didn't believe me, we had you. Never been happier." He said and I smiled. "Wow. Dad, that's amazing." I told him. "Yeah, well, it's your mother. Nothing else besides you and her are more beautiful." He told me.
He ran to the bedroom and brought out a box and flowers. "I'm gonna surprise her with these. I know our anniversary just passed but she deserves it." He told us and I chuckled. I can't recall my parents ever fighting. I'm just glad Dad got what he wanted: Mom.
Mom came in and Dad hid her presents. "Hi." She said and he kissed her again. "I have something for you." He said and pulled her things out. She gasped to see a beautiful diamond necklace. "Only for you, LJ." He told her and put it on her. "I really am the luckiest girl in the world." She said and smiled at him.
Lara Jean's POV
After Jesse gave me the necklace and flowers, my favorite flowers: blue stargazer lilies. I couldn't stop smiling. "I have to go to campus." Justin said looking at his phone. "I have to go to the library for my exams." Claire said. "Bye." I said. Jesse chuckled and kissed me. He smiled and carried me to the room and I laughed. You know what happens next. Afterwards, we were just lying in bed and I caught him smiling at me. "What?" I asked and giggled. "Nothing. You're just beautiful." He told me and I kissed him. "I'm home!" We heard Claire yell out and we jumped out of bed.
"Hey." I said as we walked out. "What were you doing?" She asked us. "Nothing." "Nothing." We said and I looked at Jesse. "Okay..." She said looking at us weirdly. "Where's your brother?" Jesse asked. "He had rehearsal." She told us. She was looking at a magazine. "Mom, your shirt is unbuttoned." She said and I buttoned up all fast. Someone opened the door and it was the girls. "Hey." I said and hugged them. Bella was also with Stacie. "Hey, Aunt Lara." "Hi, sweetie." I said and kissed her head. "Bella!" "Uncle Jesse!" They said and hugged. I laughed.
A week later
I felt really sick like some bug was inside of me. I had a feeling that I might be pregnant. I didn't even know people could get pregnant in their late 30s but turns out, they can which means I can. It's been 16 years since I've taken care of a baby. Literally. I called Stacie. "Stace?" "Yeah." "I need you to...go get me a pregnancy test." I told her. "What? Why me?" "Do I really have to say it?" I asked and she sighed. "Fine." "Don't tell the others. Not Jesse, not the kids. I don't wanna get anyone excited or upset until I know for sure." I told her. "Okay."
"LJ, you in there?" Jesse asked from the other side of the door. "Yeah. Um, lady problems." I said. "Want anything? Hot tea? Water? Ice cream?" "No. I'll be fine. I'll be out in a sec." I told him. "Okay. Let me know." He said. "Here." Stacie sent a text. I went outside to get the test. "What's that?" Jesse asked as I had it behind my back. "Tampons." I told him then running in the bathroom. I waited a while, flipped the test over and I'm fucking pregnant. "Shit, shit, shit." I mumbled.
Dinner
I smelled chili and I just wanted to throw up. I held it down. "Guys, I have something to tell you." I told them as we were about to eat. "You and dad are getting a divorce?" "We're moving?" The kids asked. "What? No." I told them. I sighed and put my hands over my face. I took the test out of my pocket and put it on the table. "I'm pregnant." I said and they looked at me in shock. "You're pregnant?" Claire asked. I nodded. "How did this happen? I mean, I know how it happened." Jesse said smiling and I tried so hard not to laugh. "Gross." Claire said.
"Jess?" I asked as he looked... "You're pregnant." He said and starting to smile. "Jess, don't run out of the house and on to the street." I told him and he chuckled. He got up and kneeled beside me. He smiled and kissed me. "I'm game if you are." He told me. I suddenly got so excited and hugged him. "I'm gonna have a sibling and we're gonna be 19 years apart?" Ethan asked. "Yeah." I said. "Sweet." He said and I scoffed.
