Ethan and the girls left a few days ago and I was honestly getting lonely. "What's up, LJ?" Jesse asked, coming to the living room. "Nothing. I miss Ethan." I told him with a chuckle. "I can ask to take the day off and we could do something." "Stay home and have a movie day?" I asked. "Sure.' he said and kissed my head. "I have to go get some stuff at the store." I said. "Okay."
About two hours later, we started with movies. Say Anything. Someone knocked. I got up and went to the door. It was a girl, it looked like she was in her mid-twenties maybe. "Hi." "Can I help you?" I asked her. "Are you Lara Jean...Swanson? Maiden name is Mitchell?" She asked. "Yeah... wait, who are you?" I asked. "My father is Vinnie Derian. You--" My heart dropped. "Oh my God. Vienna."
Backstory: (In the first chapter, I mention Lara Jean's 'psycho ex boyfriend' but I didn't know what I was going to do with that until now.) When I was sixteen, after Ethan left, I got a boyfriend and I got pregnant. My mom paid Vinnie to take the baby away so I could still have a future. I called Jesse my first love because I never thought of Vinne like that.
I closed the door. "How--how did you find me?" I asked. "I contacted some people. I know it's weird--" "Um, I'm sorry, I can't really talk here. Do you wanna give me your number and we can meet somewhere?" I asked. "I guess we could." She said and gave it to me. "I'll call you." I told her before going back in. "Who was that?" "Um, Jess, I need to talk to you." I told him.
"About?" He asked and I turned off the TV. "I'm so scared to tell you this." I said, trying to tear up. "Lara Jean, you're scaring me." "Um, years before we met, I, uh, I had this "boyfriend" and we...did it. And I got pregnant. My mom paid my ex and his parents to move away and take away the baby so that I could still go to college and have a career. That was her. Vienna." I told him. He didn't say anything. "Jesse, please say something." I said, starting to cry. "Why didn't you tell me before?" He asked quietly. "Because I was scared. I wanted to tell you so badly over the years but I thought you'd never look at me the same." I told him and started to sob.
He hugged me. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you." I told him and he was rubbing my back. "It's okay. What are you gonna do about it?" He asked as we pulled apart. "Uh, I asked her to meet me and that I'd call her. I'm scared. What if she doesn't like me? What if she hates me?" I asked. "You're gonna be okay. I can come with you if you'd like." He said holding my face and I held his hand. I nodded. "Yeah." I said and he hugged me again.
We met her at a coffee place. "Hey." She said as we went up to her. "Hi, I'm Jesse." Jess said as he shook her hand. "Nice to meet you." "Let's, uh, let's sit." I said. "I only have a few questions and I can't wait anymore for you to answer them. My dad told me you died giving birth to me." She said. "Well, he's obviously wrong. Me and your dad, we were very young when we had you. I was practically a nut case and my mom thought it was better for your dad and your grandparents to take you away. I agreed because I was too sad and depressed to be taking care of a baby." I told her and Jesse held my hand as I was telling her.
"Did you ever think of me? At all?" She asked and I started to tear up and I held her hand. "For the last 25 years, you're all I've ever thought about. I wanted to look for you so many times but I always knew you were better off with your dad. My family was crazy at the time." I added.
"So, you have a new family? Hence...him." She said referring to Jesse. "Yeah. You have three sisters and two brothers. Justin, Claire, Kristin, Rose and Jesse Junior. If you'd like, I want to be a part of your life. My mom isn't in my life so she can't control me anymore." I told her. "I'll think about it." She said. "Okay." "I have to go back to work." She said.
We went home. All the kids were home. I looked at Jesse and he nodded. "Hey, I have something to tell you guys. It's possibly a big change for our family." I said. "We're moving again?" "Dad got a new job?" "You're pregnant again?" "No." I told them. I went into the room and got out a small box. "Justin, you are not my first born child." I said as I gave them pictures.
"What?" "I have a daughter. I had her when I was seventeen but I got pregnant at sixteen. Her name is Vienna." I told them. "Why are you telling us now?" Justin asked. "Because she came here. Me and your dad went to meet up with her. She's thinking of letting me into her life." I added. "It's true." Jesse told them.
"I already have three sisters now I have four? Guys, just give me another brother. This family has too many girls." Justin said and we laughed. "Claire?" "I don't know what to say, honestly. I'm just confused." She said. "Missy, you have a sissy!" Jesse said and I snickered.
"Lara Jean, it's time." The nurse said. Vinnie and his parents were outside the room. "Mom, do I really have to do this?" I asked her. "Yes, Lara Jean. I'm sorry." She told me and I started crying as I looked at Vienna. "I'm sorry." I whispered to her. I kissed her head before giving her to the nurse.
2 days later
We were all having lunch and a knock came to the door. It was Vienna. "Hey. I thought about what you suggested and I'd like you to be in my life." She said and I smiled. "Come in. We're just about to eat." I told her. The kids came to the kitchen looking at her. "Guys, this is Vienna. My first born daughter. That's Justin, Junior, Missy, Rose and Claire. And Justin's fiancee Leah and their daughter Jasmine." I said. "Hi." They said. "Okay! Here we go, Chicken Alfredo." Jesse said as we went to the table and we sat down.
