I'm Gonna Be: Chapter 37

It was Jesse's birthday which he doesn't seem to be super thrilled about hitting forty  but I decided to make breakfast even though he doesn't let me. "Okay." I said and went upstairs. I laid down beside him watching him snore. I chuckled. He opened his eyes slightly. "What are you laughing at?" He asked, holding me. "I'm watching the birthday boy snore and drool." I told him and he chuckled.

"What time is it?" He asked, groaning. "Four." "Four?!" "-ty." I said and snickered. He shook his head and laughed. "It's eight." I told him. "No, too early. Let's go back to bed." He said and pulled me closer. I mocked him and kissed him. "I made strong strong coffee." I told him. "I'm up." He said and went downstairs. Claire had the idea for a breakfast-movie day. We had everything set up in the living room, featuring The Breakfast Club of course. "I smell coffee." He said and saw everything. "What is all this?" "Well, instead of a normal breakfast, we're having a movie-cation breakfast. We have movies, obviously. Uh, your favorite Belgian waffles with your strong strong coffee and a surprise later today." I told him. "Happy birthday, Dad." Claire said and hugged him. "Thanks, sweetie." He said.

I went up to him. "Forty?" I asked and he covered my mouth. "Ew, drool hands." I said and he laughed. He kissed me. "Do you like it?" I asked. "I love it. Thank you." He said and I kissed his cheek. "Come, let's eat." I said.

While Jesse was at work, we were gonna throw dinner and surprise him. I feel like it's too much but he deserves it. We have all of his favorite foods and desserts. We got his favorite songs in one whole playlist which was a lot..and I also got him a little something. The Bella's and Trebles were coming, Clara, Leah and Tyler, my brother and his family, my dad, his parents, his siblings and Benji of course

We were just waiting on him and his parents got here. "Hey! You guys made it!" I said. "Of course we did. Hi, dear." Sandra said and hugged me. "Everybody's is in the backyard so you can just head out the slide door." "Have you ever thought of redecorating?" Howard asked and I chuckled. "No. We like the house like this." I said. "That's too bad." He said then walked out. He can be nice when he wants to but he likes to expect a lot from his kids.

I saw Jesse's car. I ran outside. "Hey." "Hi, you feeling energetic?" He asked and laughed. "Something like that." I said and covered his eyes. "What are you doing?" "Believe me, I don't like this either. I have to stand on my toes but I did mention we have another surprise." I told him. "Okay." He said. I uncovered his eyes. "You did all this?" He asked. "You deserve it. You need something fun for the big 4-0." I said and he laughed.

It's been an hour and we already finished the other birthday stuff like the cake and food. I gave him a small box. "Here. This one's from me." I said. I got tickets for Kansas. One of his favorite bands and they're going on tour next month and coming to Georgia. "You got Kansas tickets?" He asked excitedly and I nodded. He got up and spun me around, I screamed and laughed before he put me down. "Thank you. For everything." He said smiling down on me. "Of course. Happy birthday, babe." I said and kissed him. "Dad, this one's from all of us." Claire said. it was a pretty big one.

Me, Claire, Justin and Leah chipped in for the Steinway & Sons piano. "Wow, a new piano! I really am the luckiest man in the world. Thank you guys but isn't this expensive?" "Oh yeah 6 grand but you deserve it. I'm not gonna tell you again." I told him and chuckled. "Dad, me and Leah have a present for you too. Both of you actually." Justin said before giving us boxes. We looked at each other before opening them.
