Chapter 62: Dage is Arrives

Miao Jun's expression changed slightly, but his first thought wasn't about the truth of the matter, it was, "Does anyone else know about this?"

Song Yimo shook her head, "I haven't told anyone else, Grandma only knows that I made some money, but she doesn't know the exact amount."

"You must not tell anyone, you've been a bit reckless today," Miao Jun warned his daughter, "If you don't want to harm Yimo, you can't tell anyone, not even Grandma, and the He family must also be kept in the dark."

He Yi nodded repeatedly, "I understand that where there is a lot of money, there is also a lot of trouble. Zhiruo, please keep your mouth shut, do you understand?"

Miao Zhiruo was in awe of Yimo, clasping her hands together in front of her chest, her eyes sparkling as she looked at her, "You're beautiful, smart, and can make money. Yimo, spare me a way out."

Song Yimo patted her head, a smile revealing dimples on her cheeks, "You'll be in charge of protecting the family and the country, and I'll be in charge of making money to support the family. I'll make sure you don't have to worry about money. If you want to stay in the military camp for the rest of your life, that's fine, whether our family can produce a female officer will depend on you."

Miao Zhiruo thumped her well-developed chest, "I promise to complete the mission."

The two exchanged a glance, laughing together, the solemn atmosphere from earlier completely gone.

Miao Jun and He Yi also shared a light-hearted smile as they looked at each other. Work was important, but seeing their children so happy, the difficulties at work seemed insignificant.

"Miao Dad, I asked Dage, and he also thinks this is a good idea. It's just that going to a bigger city for business might be even better, we don't have to go to big places like S City or B City, Mang City is good enough," Song Yimo explained.

Miao Jun nodded slightly, "I understand your point. But none of us have experience in business, and the ins and outs are unclear. We might end up at a disadvantage if we rashly enter this field."

"Miao Dad..." Song Yimo knew it wouldn't be easy to persuade Miao Dad, but hearing him express doubts made her a bit anxious.

Miao Jun raised his hand to stop her, "Don't worry, I can see the potential in your idea. But I need to think more about it, to see if I'm suited for business. It's almost New Year, there's no rush for now. I'll think it over carefully. Don't be distracted, focus on preparing for your exams."

Not being immediately rejected was already better than she had expected. Song Yimo didn't dare to push further on this matter, as long as Miao Jun kept it in mind, she had a chance to convince him.

After dinner at the Miao family's house, Miao Jun drove her back.

"Have you been in contact with Mu Yang?"

"Yeah, I have. Dage calls every day and Grandma is delighted."

Even some grandchildren don't call every day, Miao Jun was wary of Zhai Muyang, but hearing this made him happy for the two.

"What's your plan with Jiang Yi?"

Song Yimo kicked a small stone as she walked, "I've broken off ties with her, I'll visit her during winter break."

"Have you thought it through?"

"I can't go to the extent of skinning and gutting like Nezha, but if drawing out some marrow can sever this relationship, I'm willing. I hope to put an end to our relationship and have no further obligations. It won't be easy though, if Jiang Yi has any ulterior motives in the future, a single word of disrespect could crush me, so I need to prepare early to prevent being caught off guard and suffering a great loss."

"I'm free before the New Year, I'll accompany you then. Having me around, Jiang Yi will have to think twice," Miao Jun sighed, realizing the need for precautions, to avoid Yimo suffering a major setback in the future.

Song Yimo had originally wanted to say that Dage would accompany her, but she was never good at rejecting people who were kind to her, so she just nodded.

As they entered the gate of the old neighborhood, the small building was already in sight. Miao Jun suddenly brought up the topic they had discussed at the Miao family's house before.

"During this time, I'll be going to Mang City and the surrounding cities. Yimo, it's not that Miao Dad doesn't believe in your suggestion. Miao Dad can see the potential in this business, but your Miao Mama is modest and honest, and I come from a technical background. If we go into business and it doesn't go well, we'll suffer significant losses. I need to think about it more."

Song Yimo looked up at Miao Jun and smiled, "I understand. But Miao Dad, you don't need to worry too much. It's okay to make mistakes; consider it a learning experience. No one is born knowing how to do business, and being honest in business is not a bad thing. Who wouldn't want to deal with a straightforward boss when buying things? I, for one, am wary of smooth talkers, afraid of getting swindled unintentionally."

Miao Jun's face also had a smile, he patted her head and fell silent.

As it was getting late, Miao Jun dropped off one person after another without lingering.

Grandma Song just patted his shoulder without saying anything, worried that mentioning one thing might lead to another.

*

In a blink of an eye, it was the New Year.

The New Year holiday was five days long, including New Year's Day and the month leave, but the weather these days wasn't great, with rainy and windy conditions.

However, for Song Yimo, who had no plans to go anywhere, it didn't make much difference.

When the door was knocked, Grandma Song was dozing off by the stove, ready to get up to open the door, when Song Yimo came out of the room.

"I'll get it."

The Song family had few relatives who visited, but there were many old neighbors who would drop by, or people from the Miao family. Whoever it was, Song Yimo welcomed them. She didn't have much time to spend with Grandma, so she hoped someone would come to keep her company and chat with her.

But the person who was standing in front of her was beyond her expectations.

Zhai Muyang, carrying large and small packages, smiled at her, "Why are you so surprised? Didn't I say I would come to see you and Grandma when I have the time?"

Grandma Song hurried over upon hearing the voice, "Is it Muyang? Why did you come on a day like this?"

The wind at the door was cold, and Song Yimo quickly ushered him inside and closed the door.

She guided him to sit on the sofa, uncovered a corner of the blanket, and said, "Get warm."

She put his belongings on the sofa and Zhai Muyang didn't hesitate to take off his shoes and put his feet in the blanket, instantly feeling the warm heat enveloping him, giving him a sense of being at home and relaxing to the extreme.

Song Yimo made tea and placed it on the coffee table. She picked up her big brother's shoes and put them by the door, then took out a pair of large cotton slippers from the shoebox.

Since they had only been worn for a day and were stored well, the shoes looked new.

These were his belongings in this house, and just thinking about it made Zhai Muyang feel incredibly content.

"Don't rush, come sit here."

Song Yimo sat on the small sofa next to him, extending her feet as well.

Like treating a beloved child, Grandma Song grabbed a handful of candies and stuffed them into Zhai Muyang's hand, asking, "Muyang, are you also off for New Year's Day?"

"Yeah, these days I have nothing much to do."

"Good, this time you don't have to rush off." Grandma Song lifted the blanket and put on her shoes, "I'll go check if there's enough food at home. If not, I'll go buy some more."
