Lingling was deep in her work, flipping through files and jotting down notes for a report, when a light knock interrupted her. She barely looked up as she heard the voice of the front desk receptionist.

"Miss Kwong, you've got a visitor."

Still focused on her papers, She murmured absently, "Who?"

"A gentleman," the receptionist replied politely.

Lingling raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "He didn't give his name?"

The receptionist shook her head. "No, ma'am. Just said he's family."

That got her attention. Family? She glanced up, already feeling her pulse quicken. Her heart dropped as her mind leaped to the worst. My father? Here?

The thought made her stomach churn; sweat prickled at her brow.

She pushed up from her desk and took a deep breath before stepping out. She couldn't remember ever seeing her father come to visit her at work, this means only trouble.

Her mind raced as she walked down the hall and turned into the front desk—and froze in surprise.

Standing there, hands shoved in his pockets, a lopsided grin plastered on his face, was a young man she recognized but had never expected to see here.

Orm's brother?

He broke into a wide, almost awkward smile when he saw her. "Lingling! Good morning."

Why is he greeting  me like we just had beer last night ? Lingling thought to herself

She blinked, taken aback. "Good morning," she replied politely, masking her confusion. She gestured for him to follow her. "Please, come in."

They stepped back into her office, and Lingling motioned toward the chair across from her desk. "To what do I owe this... pleasant surprise?"
