Familiar skulls lined the walls and a phantom weight pressed on her shoulders. Drops of blood fell on the floor, periodically.

Plip... Pilp... Plip...

As she followed her Oath, the drops echoed louder and louder. Soon only a hypnotic single thought took root in her mind.

'It'll be over soon.'

She walked through the maze, guided by her Oath. Urgency urged her to run, but discipline kept her rational. Prepared for an ambush Kallen took her time. If that vixen resurfaced her Valkyries would easily deal with her.

Soon, the skulls that lined the walls disappeared, and the network revealed itself to her. Alien architecture greeted her. Buttresses fitted with a capstone braced the ceiling once every ten steps. Stones cut with impossible precision refused the entry of all vegetation. Even fungi could only grow on the cracks in the floor.

Kallen paid no mind to these intricacies, the light from her oath illuminated her surroundings but all she could perceive was the darkness straight ahead. She walked for tens of minutes before she could finally perceive the crackle of a few candles. The wax dripped off and plopped onto the stone floors.

'This is like a prison.'

Kallen glimpsed her surroundings in the light of her Oath. Seven stories of barless cells, a stockpile of weaponry, and a giant ice box for food. She could hear the sewage system, running water, and her. On the lowest floor behind a door light mockingly brightly was that Vixen. Contrary to filth Kallen imagined the Black Rose lived in luxury. Pelts, stacks of paper, and the most exquisite bedding that nobles could afford. If there were other bases, then the complex could compare to even Kurst's Cologne basement.

Kallen jumped over the railing of the top floor. She landed heroicly not caring to hide her presence. A dynamic kick blew the iron door off its hinges.

"A terrible greeting but at least you're not breaking through a window this time." Sitting on the desk just thirty steps away was the former Eleventh.

Her voice was oddly seductive and proper, maintaining a manner of speech that mimicked Risa. The tall Emelia Wagner cackled catching the oncoming door with her mechanical arm. Unlike Kallen, she chose to lay it on the floor as though it were a welcoming mat.

"You'll stand before justice and the truth will end this false war," Kallen growled.

"Are you justice?"

Emelia's eyes danced from blood splatter to blood splatter. When she met Kallen's eyes she could only smirk. The Holy Maiden was prepared to crush poor Emelia. Poor Miss Wagner.

"Was it justice when they executed your Great Inventor?"

Emelia raised the Revelation in her hands. A red ribbon, a fateful bookmark, dangled a ring before her eyes.

"Was it justice when you killed your Great Inventor?"

Kallen's chains disappeared. Her heart burned. On her chest and in that book before her. Emelia smiled sickly, if they fought here Kallen's most precious treasure.

"How does it feel? I know more about the man whose love you desperately covet. He's been far more intimate for me. Far more truthful."

Emelia caressed the book as though it was his heart. In her hands, it turned into a more private part. Every lustful stroke stirred Kallen's cauldron. The flames burned hotter than the sun.

"That's mine."

Frost threatened to cover the room but the Revelation kept Kallen in check.

"Out of curiosity what do you think of his actions?"
