- SEUNGMIN + OT8
"Hey guys, do you think you can look after my apartment for a few months?" All eight heads turned toward you, standing in the doorway of your living room.
"Yeah, sure, but where are you going that'll take months?" You anticipated this question, so you inhaled deeply and sat on the empty spot on the couch.
"Nowhere yet... I need to get surgery and was planning to schedule it near my parents' place so they can take care of me. I just want to know if someone can watch my place while I'm gone." Confusion flickered across their faces, and you felt a wave of nervousness as you waited for the response.
"I mean, yeah, but why can't you have the surgery here? We can help take care of you," Changbin said, earning groans of agreement from the others.
"Okay, here's the thing," you started, but were cut off.
"You're not a burden," Felix chimed in.
"You wouldn't be bothering us," Han added.
"You're not heavy; we can help you move," Chan said with a grin.
"None of us care if we see you naked," Seungmin quipped, and you huffed in annoyance, knowing they knew you all too well.
"I spend way too much time with you guys," you said, rolling your eyes. They shrugged, unfazed.
"Just schedule your surgery and let us know. We'll have a schedule, and you can have eight hot nurses at your service," Lee Know joked, flashing his trademark smirk.
"Look, we just want you to be comfortable at home after surgery. You're always going up to heaven and down to hell for us. It would be an honor to return half of what you do for us." Changbin rubbed your knee, which had been taped up for months after a bad injury.
"Okay, okay, but if it becomes too much, I'll call my mom and fly her out," you conceded, feeling a warmth spread in your chest.
"Deal," they chorused, excitement and determination lighting up their faces.
As the conversation shifted to planning your recovery, you felt a sense of relief wash over you. You had always been the one taking care of everyone else, and now, with their support, you could finally focus on healing without worry. With friends like these, maybe this surgery wouldn't be so daunting after all.
After the surgery, you woke up in your familiar living room, the gentle hum of soft voices surrounding you. The haze of anesthesia lifted, and you felt a warm presence beside you. It was Felix, dozing lightly in a chair. The sight filled you with gratitude and comfort.
As the days passed, each of your friends took turns staying over, ensuring you were never alone. They brought your favorite snacks, made you laugh with silly stories, and were relentless in their insistence that you rest. Changbin became your personal chef, whipping up soft meals that were easy on your stomach, while Seungmin made sure you were entertained with movies and shows.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Han would ask every morning, gently checking your temperature and making sure you were comfortable.
"Just a bit sore," you'd reply, managing a smile despite the pain.
"Don't worry; I've got the perfect remedy," he'd say, pulling out an absurdly large stuffed animal from behind his back. "Meet Mr. Cuddle!"
As night fell, they took turns sleeping in the spare bed or on the couch, just a few feet away from you. On some nights, it was Chan who nestled in with a book, reading aloud until you dozed off. On other nights, it was Lee Know, who would crack jokes until you couldn't help but laugh, even through the pain.
