Chapter 82: Silent Farewell

With everything settled, Song Yimo's heart was set on returning home.

Especially as the hospital was gradually filled with the festive atmosphere of the new year, she was eager to leave every second.

Even though she knew her trembling legs should rest for another night before leaving, as soon as Guo Chao left, she felt the urge to go home.

She couldn't hold back any longer. "Dad Miao, Dage, let's go back."

Miao Jun was a very family-oriented person, and after nearly ten days out, he was also missing his wife and children. However, he immediately vetoed her suggestion.

"Look at yourself in the mirror. Won't Auntie Song worry if you go home looking like this?"

Without needing to look in the mirror, Song Yimo knew she must look as pale as a ghost at the moment.

Touching her face, Song Yimo insisted, "The journey home won't be smooth at this time, and by the time we arrive, it'll be midnight. Grandma's eyesight isn't good, she won't see my condition clearly. If I rest at home tonight, I'll feel much better tomorrow. Dad Miao, I want to go home."

Dealing with unruly parents of naughty children, one could think of many ways to handle the situation. But dealing with a calm and composed child like Song Yimo was a headache.

Because they couldn't even provoke her temper.

Moreover, Miao Jun had been feeling sorry for her these days. This made it even harder for him to refuse her request. He couldn't help but look at Zhai Muyang.

In the past few days, he had noticed that although Muyang was very accommodating to Yimo, he never compromised when it came to her health.

Muyang easily agreed this time, squatting down in front of Song Yimo. "Let's go back. We'll drive steadily, and you can rest in the car. The roads won't be fast these days at the end of the year. Yimo, come on."

Song Yimo wanted to say she could walk, but after her brother had spoken up for her, she found it hard to refuse, so she slowly leaned on her brother's back. "I'm quite heavy."

"You're not heavy even if you gain another ten pounds." Zhai Muyang lifted her up and weighed her, "Uncle Miao, let's go."

Miao Jun didn't insist anymore.

It seemed like the entire sixth floor knew they were leaving. Many family members came out of the wards, some just watching with kind eyes.

As they passed by, some people would shake Miao Jun's hand firmly without saying a word, conveying their support silently.

Luo Ye was among them.

Every time a donor left, this scene would unfold on the sixth floor.

Even though they weren't helping themselves, this was the kind of people they needed.

They all hoped the next person to come would help their own children.

Before, Luo Ye had only silently watched.

This time, he mustered up the courage and, like the others, firmly held Miao Jun's hand, expressing his gratitude towards the thin, pale-faced girl on Zhai Muyang's back.

The doctors in the office, along with the nurses, stood in a neat line along the corridor, participating in this ritual that had unknowingly become a tradition on the sixth floor.

Guo Chao and Miao Jun shook hands, and Guo Chao gently patted Song Yimo's back. "Study well. Knowledge might not necessarily lead you to great heights, but it will be your foundation for life."
