Featherpaw trotted into camp, it had been one and a half moons since her apprentice ceremony, and her first time at the moonpool, she'd been there twice now and was getting better at going around her territory, she was so happy when Moonblossom allowed her to go out on her own today, to look for yarrow, since they had not much left after using it to save Willowfur after she accidentally swallowed deathberries. Yarrow was near snakerocks and she knew that there was a patrol nearby, and Featherpaw would be careful. Reaching her destination, she opened her mouth to catch the scent of snake, "coast clear," she muttered quietly to herself as she ducked through a small tunnel to collect yarrow. After she got a mouthful, she headed back, to hear the hissing of a snake, after making sure it didn't block her path, she carried on, only to hear a warrior shout "Featherpaw! watch out!" and a fluffy body brush past her and a pained cry as Featherpaw paused she heard the same voice shout "RUN!" that made Featherpaw race through the trees, aware that a warrior was left behind, she weaved through ferns and tree truncks until she reached the medicine den, panting, Moonblossom came out and saw her apprentice waving her tail at her, she opened her mouth but raced after the younger cat as Featherpaw ran back to snakerocks, her mentor hard on her heels.
When they arrived, Featherpaw finally spoke and breathed"Injured warrior- snake" but that was enough, Moonblossom went over to the ball of fur beside them and found a wound from the snake, and called out to the leader of the patrol"Stormheart! Goldenheart was bitten by a snake, can you and your patrol help me carry her back, Featherpaw, run ahead and get the herbs ready, we'll need the yarrow you bought back, poppy and thyme." with that Featherpaw dashed of back to the den, hoping that the other cats there were OK.
Back at camp, she lay out poppy seeds, thyme and yarrow next to a den, moments later, Goldenheart and the warriors entered, placing Goldenheart in the nest Featherpaw prepared, and left to report to Violetstar, and Moonblossom hurried over"This will give you some practice at treating things like this, and don't worry, it isn't to bad, she'll heal." Featherpaw nodded, but whispered"But its all my fault, she was saving me..." she trailed of but her mentor just gave her a sympathetic lick on the ear. After, both of them stayed silent as Featherpaw spread the yarrow onto the wound, sniffing it to check whether it would be to bad but visually relaxed when she recognized that wasn't very deep, but when Goldenflower woke with a small moan of pain, she jumped backward "D-did i hurt you?" she stuttered, her expression worried. "I'll be ok" Goldenflower murmured and looked at the thyme and poppy in front of her, "Should I eat it?" she asked. Featherpaw shook her head and added "Unless you can't sleep or you're in pain, I think the shock's worn of since you can speak to me properly." Featherpaw told her and the older cat nodded and purred "I think I'll be going to the elder's den now, I've had my fair share of battles, saving other cats and hunting, can I go?" Featherpaw nodded"Soon, let me put cobweb on the wound, its not bleeding to badly but the cobweb will make sure that the wound is kept clean. She spun around towards the stock but bumped into Moonblossom, who had some cobweb in her mouth, "Thanks" Featherpaw mewed before reaching up slightly to take it, it felt good, just like when she used to pass flowers to the medicine cat every morning when she was a kit. Then she returned to Goldenflower and neatly wrapped the cobweb around the snake bit, gently binding it together, "you can go" Featherpaw told her "Enjoy lying in the sunshine with some other cat to catch your prey" she added with a cheeky purr watching Goldenflower go. After she left, Featherpaw's ears pricked as she heard Violetstar's voice "There is a gathering today, the cats who will go are..."
