"Alright, explain yourselves," Izuku demanded as he appeared inside Mirrim's throne room. A clear sign that he could come and go as he pleased and the Eternal Lord could do nothing at all to stop him.
"Ah, I was waiting for you to appear," Shigaraki calmly stated, standing near the king, who couldn't maintain the level of strength Shigaraki projected.
"You see, I don't much care for a Twin Soul holding a Factor. So unpredictable, so unmanageable." He lightly sipped at his tea, which Izuku let him enjoy, as he could tell he was being sarcastic about the disdain for a Twin Soul. "But Avalon does not allow for us to control where the Factor goes outside of the original holder or the sword itself. But... we did find a loophole. We could release the Factor back to the God who controls it - Enja."
Izuku laughed bitterly. "So, it was the Gods conspiring on this assassination. So that Enja could choose a different successor to the Factor."
"I assume we were both given different things to act in this chess match of the Gods. But yes, releasing the Factor to Enja was not my idea. Personally I would've kept it or released it back to the Twin Soul." To Shigaraki's credit, Izuku was certain he was being honest. He even seemed a little perturbed at being someone else's pawn. "A Creation Lord is a Creation Lord. Twin Soul or not."
"So I got information, you got Items, and the Gods get what?"
Shigaraki nodded. "That is the question. I assume your future sight doesn't penetrate such a question if you're to ask me about it."
"Is it all of them?"
"The Gods?" Shigaraki asked. "Almost certainly not. Aeic doesn't like any of the others, and I know the NULL Dragon stands alone, despite what the Virtue Dragon might say. The rest of the Gods? It's a toss-up on the alliances there."
Now that bit of information Izuku was unsure of. It made sense to him. As Aeic seemed pure evil, and the NULL Dragon seemed relatively upstanding and moral. Given the Virtue Dragon's involvement in this scheme though, he couldn't rule out anything.
At the very least, his list of enemies had grown to include the Virtue Dragon and Enja, gravely confirming Goto's rage against the Gods.
"Then... I assume we can call each other bitter allies until the Infestation War is over?"
Shigaraki smiled. "No beat down? No moral grandstanding? No righteous rage?"
"I've already done that for your attempt to kill the Creation Lord. Here, you're just a pawn, a pathetic man. I don't need to punish you, because I know you're raging inside at this turn of events. Even if you are responsible, I'd like to go to source on this one, punish them."
Shigaraki raised his teacup in respect. "A fine rationale. 'Bitter allies' is a little too friendly for my taste, but outside of Mirrim's possible involvement in the Enterion Civil War, I have no plans that would put us at odds."
Izuku nodded and vanished, leaving Shigaraki to heave out a breath of relief and rage. "One day... One day..." He promised to no one in particular.
*******
"Yep, it's the worst case scenario," Izuku relayed as he joined the Draxian Council, having teleported into the nation and then having to walk into the Council to account for anti-teleportation measures.
"Even the Virtue Dragon?" Toshinori asked with what looked like tears.
Izuku nodded. "I can't be certain about the NULL Dragon, but things certainly don't look good."
"I-I don't understand!" Beros cried out. "These are our creators! Our Gods! Why would they manipulate us like this?! If they truly wanted something themselves... why not just do it?!"
