Batman laid Penguin on the bed in the room that Joker stayed in a month ago.
Penguin's jaw was clenched, and his body was stiffened up. Joker could tell he was scared even from the doorway.
Penguin was sweaty and shivering, but he was so scared that he couldn't move, even despite the pain that he was in.

Edward, Joker and Alfred peeked through the doorway and Penguin was too frozen to even look at the giant Bat that was touching him on the leg.
Every time that Batman pushed on a certain spot, Oswald would lash out and scream and Batman would almost get bitten or scratched.

"Yeah, it's definitely broken, Alfred. It's his shin." Batman said, turning around.
"It's been broken for years." Joker said, peeking inside even more. "So how much more is it broken?"
"Um.." the Bat went quiet.
Nygma pushed himself into the room.

He lightly moved his hand along Penguin's shin.
"Well, it's bad enough that I can feel the dent in his leg. There is bruising around his calf." Riddler pulled up Penguin's sweatpants to his knee.

"Oh my word." Alfred mumbled.

The area around Oswald's leg was red and purple with bruises and bleeding. The leg itself was misshapen, sticking out at an odd angle.
Joker pushed into the room in shock.
"I'm surprised he isn't screaming or crying right now." Batman grumbled to himself.

"I can't- move.. my leg." Penguin groaned. Joker nervously held onto his hand, smiling to keep himself from worrying too much.
"It's gonna be fine." Joker promised him.
"When can I get out of here?" Penguin asked weakly.

"Gee, I'm not sure, you broke out of the hospital yesterday and you are hurt again today." Batman suddenly snapped at him. "So, use your brain." He tapped the side of his head.

Everyone was pretty taken aback, except for Alfred. The boys all gave Batman the same look before turning away in disgust.

Penguin didn't meet the Bat's eye. Joker glanced sideways at Nygma, and his smile faded. Edward also fell silent.

"That was very mean, sir." The butler sighed, breaking the silence. "He is but a child."
"Don't call me that." Oswald scowled. He began chewing on his sweater's sleeves subconsciously. Ed pushed his glasses farther up.
The Joker didn't even look at Batman.

"Alright. I'm sorry." Batman grumbled, glaring at the three boys who looked extremely dejected. Nobody said anything.
"Whatever." Riddler rolled his eyes, and walked out of the room.
Joker followed him out, his mind filling with storm clouds.

Batman looked down at Penguin. Oswald kept his gaze away from him.
He sighed, and left the room, leaving Alfred to watch over the Penguin.

The other two chilled in the common space for a while, keeping to themselves mostly, except for when one of them would look up and the other would be staring at them.

It was a good ten minutes of sitting there before Bruce Wayne walked in. Riddler squinted at him.
"Hello, boys." Said Bruce.
"Hey, Bruce." Joker smiled at him. Edward had no reaction- he just kept staring at Bruce's nose.

"Your friend.. Penguin. He doesn't look too good, does he?" Bruce said. "I heard he had a fracture in his tibia."
"He's had a fracture forever." Joker said.
"He made it really bad today." Bruce mumbled. "I heard about Batman's outburst. I apologize for it."

"Eh- oh, I mean.. whatever." Stammered Joker. "We get screamed at wherever we go, so it's not a big deal."
Bruce nodded.
"It was rude." Ed Nygma piped up. "I don't understand why he would yell at Os- the Penguin- like that. Especially him being a guest in the Manor. Very unnecessary."
