"When you started crying baby I did too"

March 27, 2005

"Go, Theo'" I cheered, standing in the torrential downpour next to Declan.

"He's not even doing anything," Declan raised a brow, "He's just standing there."

"Looking mighty fine," I grinned, "That's worthy of a celebration."

"I think it's sweet," Shannon smiled at me from the other side of Declan.

"I like you," I grinned at her and then looked at Declan, "I definitely like her more than you."

"Oh no, I'm truly devastated," He rolled his eyes, "Mind her, Shan, she's crazy."

"Declan!" Shannon gasped, "She can hear you."

"Well, yeah, I know that, Shan," He laughed.

"Oh," Her cheeks flamed pink, "Is she not offended?"

"Not in the slightest," I shrugged, "Deccy, here is like head lice—he's impossible to get rid of—you'll be stuck with him forever."

"That's okay by me," She blushed harder, and Declan wrapped an arm around her shoulders—pulling her closer to his side.

"How are you feeling, baby?" He smiled down at her, "Are you cold?"

"No, I'm grand," She smiled.

I flicked my attention back toward the pitch just as Patrick made a break for the try line.

"Go, Feely," I screamed, feeling the intensity of the game.

I tried to keep my eyes off of Johnny and put them on any other player, but it was so fucking hard. He was brought to life on the pitch. He owned it and he looked fucking fantastic while doing it.

"You're staring," Declan nudged me, giving me a knowing look.

"Fuck right off," I huffed, crossing my arms.

"You know, I say this in the nicest way possible," Declan hummed, "But if you're still in love with Johnny, you should really end it with Theo."

I glared at him, "Excuse me. You were the one who told me to ask him out in the first place!"

"Because I thought it'd make you realize you don't actually love Johnny."

"Wow, great plan, you fuck head."

"In theory it was."

"Pretty shit theory," I snapped, "And mind your business, I've been watching Theo like this whole time."

Declan sighed, turning his gaze back to the game.

"Where the fuck is Addy?" I asked him, noticing how long she'd been taking in the bathroom.

"I have no idea, you should probably check on her," He replied, concern growing on his face.

"Yeah, I'll go do—"

My eyes were stuck on the pitch, or more specifically Johnny lying face down and unmoving.

He's fine.
He's okay.

But he wasn't getting up.
Not when Hughie ran over to him.
Not when the medics walked across the pitch with a stretcher.

He continued to lay there, not moving an inch.

"Oh my god," I breathed, my hand clutching my chest.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck," Declan shook his head, "Shit!"

He picked up his phone, obviously calling one of his parents while I just stood, frozen in place watching as the medics examined him.

The two medics placed Johnny on the stretcher, as a crowd began forming around them.

When Johnny sat up on the stretcher and began talking to the medics, the air returned to my lungs.

He's okay.

Johnny managed to stand, causing the crowd to cheer and clap. I watched as he slung his arms over Gibsie and Hughie and limped slowly off the pitch.

"Go find Addy," Declan swallowed hard.

I looked to Shannon who was clutching her boyfriend's hand, looking terrified.

"Okay," I nodded, my heart beating so hard I could hear it.

Watching him unmoving on the ground had been the scariest few minutes of my life.

I raced off in the direction of the toilets, to look for Addy.

All the while I was thanking the universe for keeping Johnny safe.
Because I didn't know what I'd do without him.
