"Because none of it was ever worth the risk, but you are the only exception"

April 13, 2005

I was laying in bed, mad at the world when my phone rang. I released a frustrated groan but all the anger in my body dissipated when I noticed who was calling.

"Hey," I smiled into the phone.

"Hi, Gracie," Johnny's voice came through the line.

"You missed me so bad, you had to call?" I teased, internally freaking out.

"Yes, exactly that," he chuckled. "What are you up to right now?"

Smiling, I flipped onto my stomach, "nothing. I was just about to hop in the shower."

"I like the sound of that," his tone turned flirtatious. "Can you come over?"

A smile pulled at my lips. I wasn't sure what Johnny and I even were. We'd spent the past few days making out but it felt wrong because Addy and I still weren't talking.

I didn't need her permission to be with him, but I wanted it. As much as I loved Johnny—which was a lot—I loved Adeline more. I needed her to be okay with us before I could fully immerse myself in him.

"Yeah," I grinned. "I can definitely come over."

"See you soon, Gracie," I could hear the smile in his voice as he spoke.

"See you soon," I giggled, hanging up and tossing my phone down on the bed.

I let out a squeal and mashed my face into my pillow. The lad had me kicking my feet like some love struck first year.

I then got out of bed and hopped in the shower because I needed to get beautiful if I was going to see Johnny.

I threw open the front door to the Kavanagh's and went straight upstairs to Johnny's room. I was trying to avoid running into Adeline but I was also buzzing to see my sort-of-boyfriend.

I walked into his room without knocking, to find him sitting on his bed with a worried look plastered across his face.

"What's up, sexy?" I smiled, crawling into bed next to him.

"Hi, Gracie," he pressed a kiss to the top of my head as I made myself comfortable under his arm.

I eyed him suspiciously. Even with concern on his face, he was still the most attractive man to walk this earth.

"Why do you look worried?" I asked.

"That's actually what I wanted to talk about," he inhaled a breath, his steel blue eyes meeting mine.

Oh, god.
Not a serious talk.
I hate serious talks.

"Lay it on me, mister rugby," I couldn't help but try and lighten the mood.
