"Johnny!" I shouted, pushing past what seemed like the whole damn rugby team.

When my eyes met his, I felt the familiar jolt of electricity that I'd been feeling since I was eleven years old.

"Yeah? What's up, Gracie?" Johnny asked, pausing his conversation with Patrick to focus on me.

"Nothings wrong," I shrugged, "Ads just left with Gibsie and she said you've got to drive me home."

"Ah," He nodded, "We can go now if you want. I told Feely I'd take him home as well."

Shit.

I wanted to catch Johnny alone, but I guess this would do.

"Yeah, I'm ready," I replied, downing the rest of my drink.

"Damn, Grace, did I hear you say you're leaving?" A lad—William—frowned, his hands returning to my hips.

I had been dancing with him earlier but instantly forgot about him the second Johnny's name left Adeline's mouth.

"Yep, that's what you heard," I nodded, stepping out of his grasp, "This fine man right here is taking me home." I grabbed Johnnys arm and smiled up at him.

"You and Cap?" William sputtered, "I didn't know..."

"Gracie and I aren't together," Johnny laughed, "She's my sister's best friend."

Ouch.

It was like a knife in the heart every time he said it, which was too often.

"Way to kick a girl when she's down," I sighed, cracking a joke to make me seem less pathetic.

"Sorry, Gracelyn," He gave me a sheepish grin.

"Let's just go," I rolled my eyes, "I'm over this."

I followed Johnny and Patrick through the crowd and I could hear William calling after me.

"We should hangout again!" He shouted and I cringed.

"Or not!" I called back and then headed out of the house and towards Johnny's Audi.

I ran towards the passenger door and stuck my tongue out at Patrick, "I call shot gun! Get your ass in the back."

"Jesus," Patrick sighed, "Alright."

I climbed into the seat and watched Johnny do the same.

"So, who am I dropping off first?" Johnny asked as he started the engine.

"Patrick," I replied, "I'll just go back to yours."

The concept of going to my best friend's house with my best friend not there might seem weird, but it was the case a lot of the time. I spent more time at the Kavanagh's than at my own house.

For the most part someone was always home. Whether it was Edel and John or one of the kids, someone was there for me to talk to. At times I even went there when no one was home.
