The cave was silent and the lights were off. Only one pair of footsteps could be heard trotting toward the living room where a surprise waited. The light turned on and everyone yelled, "Surprise!"

It was Wally's birthday and we decided to throw him a surprise party. "What? You guys, you shouldn't have." Wally feigned.

I gave a smile at his act. "Right, it's not like you haven't been hinting at it the whole week or anything."

M'gann and I had made two cakes for Wally and everyone else help with the decoration and getting the snacks. "We made you two cakes." M'gann beamed.

"Awesome. What are you guys gonna eat?" Wally asked.

"Told you we should've made three. Make a wish."

Wally blew out the candles and we cheered. "You know, if I tell you my wish it won't come true." Artemis rolled her eyes at the exchange between M'gann and Wally. She clearly liked him but didn't want to admit it.

We got the music playing and everyone was having a good time. I went to Wally and handed him a gift wrapped box. "Don't say I don't love you."

His frosting covered mouth curled up in a smile. "Thanks Y/n." He wrapped me in a hug and I returned the gesture.

"You're welcome, Wally."

Wally and I were in the kitchen making ice cream sandwiches. Well, attempting to at least. We had some free time between our training and whenever our next mission would be so we had some time to kill. "I'm starting to think this was a bad idea." I laughed. The ice cream had started melting and it was getting everywhere.

"Nah, this is perfect. It just needs some chocolate sauce." Wally squeezed sauce onto his ice cream sandwich and ate it messily.

"Ew." I laughed.

"Shut up." I placed my failed attempt into a bowl and crushed the contents to make a sort of cookies and cream variant.

"Pass the caramel and butterscotch please." Wally threw me the bottles and I topped the ice cream with it. "Now this is perfect."

About half way through my bowl, Batman got onto the PA system to call us in for a mission briefing. "I'll come back for you." I said to the bowl and placed it in the freezer.

We met up with the team after getting cleaned up but Aqualad was missing. "Ruman Harjavti is the democratically elected president of Qurac." Batman began and displayed the man photos along with news broadcasts. "Harjavti has been praised as a fair, wise leader, a humanitarian."

"Sure. Any friend of Bruce Wayne's." Wally mutter to Robin. Batman ignored the boy's comment and continued.

"But five days ago Harjavti allied himself with the dictator of the neighboring nation of Bialya, Queen Bee."

"Ugh! Not a fan." Conner huffed with disdain.

"Few are. But Harjavti suddenly backs Queen Bee's baseless claim that Qurac and Bialya were one nation in ancient times and has announced that countries will reunify in two days at a ceremony in Qurac." He played a video of the press conference where Harjavti stated he'd step down as president to let Queen Bee rule as the 'rightful' leader of the unified nation.

"And the Quracis are ok with this?" Wally questioned.

"Hardly. They are well aware of the brutality of Queen Bee's regime. But Harjavti has censored the press, silenced all legitimate protest and invited the Bialyan military into his country. To enforce martial law." Images of protestors and burning cars flashed on the screen.
