"This is Cat Grant reporting live from GBS from the Markovian Royal Palace. Markovia's King, Viktor Markov and Queen, Ilona DeLamb-Markov are about to hold a press conference on this, the second anniversary of the abduction of their daughter, Princess Tara."

I was in the kitchen nursing a cup of coffee while on the phone Artemis. "Yeah I'm going on a trip. I found a lead on the tracker I put on that crate a few months ago but I haven't told Dick about it. He's kinda on his own mission now and he's probably on his way to you right now to get you to go with him."

"I don't know, N/n. I don't know if I'm there yet. I mean Tigress has had some battles but I don't know." She said hesitantly.

"I know but just think about it. It might be good to take a little time away from Will and think about your feelings for him." I smiled knowingly. She paused before stuttering."W-what feelings?! Me and Will? No." I gave a knowing laugh while stirring my coffee.

"Oh I've seen how you look at each other, those lingering gazes. Don't deny it."

A moment later I heard a door open on the her side. "Speak of the devil. I gotta go." She said before she left. I giggled knowing she'd probably noticed it too. Ever since Wally's death, Artemis went into limbo, never dating or going out much. I knew how much it hurt her losing him. Maybe Will's going to be good for her. With that I grabbed my cup and went into the bedroom I'd basically tore apart while preparing to leave for Markovia. After running an analysis of the black goop I found I that meta-human warehouse, I discovered it was a substance that catalyzes the  manifestation of the meta gene, assuming the kids even survive the process in the first place. Thankfully I was able to find that the tar contained a clay unique to Markovia so thats where I was heading.  A duffle bag sat on the messy bed,  a screen flashing with a semi bright light. I grabbed it and watched as the location beacon strobed on and off.

I had what felt like a heaviness in my chest as I stared at it and then at the picture below it. Asterin Za-yan. "Mom."

Markovia

Mountains passed me by as I drove up to the palace, lit up in all its glory. Guests strode in dressed in their finest gowns and suits to witness the pre-coronation of Gregor Markov. As the eldest son he'd have to take the throne after his parents were murdered in their sleep. Royal politics where always something I didn't enjoy getting into but unfortunately, I didn't really have much of a choice this time.

I pulled up to the entrance, an archway clothed in fairy lights and gold. I grabbed my purse and stepped out, the black dress falling over my feet. The valet man walked up to me, an awe in his eyes and stumbling over his words. "M-miss." I smiled politely and handed him the key before strutting into the venue. As much as I wasn't into royal business I had to admit they did event well. I grabbed myself a glass of champagne and walked around, trying to blend with the crowed. scanned the yard, noticing two notably odd individuals to be present to a pre-coronation. The contacts I was wearing pulled up some info on this one guy, Dr. Simon Ecks, a world-renowned geneticist now working at the children's hospital and Helga Jace, the family physician standing next to him. I guess she could be a fit here but why would he be?

My eyes went to three men standing in royal attire. The brunette being Brion Markov, the raven haired being Gregor and the older gentleman being Baron Fredrick Delamb, the late queen's brother and soon to be regent once Gregor is crowned king. A possible reason to want to have your sister and brother-in-law killed. Regent for a year can do more damage than one realises. And if he did have them killed, I wouldn't put meta-human trafficking past him.
