Reid pov:
I'd been waiting all week for this.
Adam had arrived at my house pretty early trying to get as much time as he could with me. We only had two days and I wasn't planning on wasting a second of it.
Currently we had the house to ourselves because Ronan had to go to a psychiatrist appointment to get his meds updated. I was happy that he was taking the steps he needed to take care of himself. He was happier lately and seeing him like that made it so much more obvious how much he'd been struggling these last few years.
He'd been a shell of himself but I was watching as life slowly crept back into him.
I felt arms slip around me and all thoughts of my brother faded out of my mind.
I hummed as I leaned back into Adam. He was a cuddly guy despite claiming he wasn't.
"Are you almost done?" He asked resting his chin on my shoulder.
I looked down at the pan, I was trying to make breakfast. I'd tried to make fried eggs but I got distracted and broke the yolk so they turned into scrambled eggs.
"Be patient." I told him as I moved the spatula across the pan folding the eggs.
"I'm hungry." He groaned turning his head so he could press his lips lightly against the side of my neck.
"I'll be done in a minute, go grab the toast."
"Yes chef." He huffed and detached himself from me.
I mourned the warmth of him for only a few seconds before he was back next to me. The whole side of his body warmed me as he leaned against me. I noticed that he tended to like having at least some of part of us touching at all times.
I was not ever going to complain about that.
Once the eggs were done I divided them up on the two plates and went to sit at the kitchen table.
"You ready to meet Ronan and Tiff?" I questioned.
Ro would be home soon and I was excited for the two of them to finally meet. I knew Tiffany was going to love Adam. I was less sure about Ronan but I knew he'd just be happy that I was happy.
"Fuck I think I need to leave." Adam shrunk in his seat.
I could see the tension all over him. He was stressing out, that was something I was expecting. Adam hated meeting new people. I was going to have to figure out a way to make it through this introduction without Adam spinning himself into a panic attack.
"I've met your dad, it's going to be just like that." I told him trying to ease some of the nerves.
Adam hadn't really introduced me to his dad. But I'd met him in passing a few times when I'd stayed at his house. He was a nice guy, he just worked all the time.
"That is so different and you know it." He argued.
I could see him starting to shut down, I wanted nothing more than to ease all that anxiety.
"What can I do?" I asked wanting to help him in any way that I could.
"Tell my brain to stop being a stupid bitch." He replied.
I reached out taking his hand and threading our fingers together.
"It's going to be fine, they will love you." I squeezed his hand.
"Yeah unless they don't because I say something stupid."
"Worst case Ronan decides he doesn't like you and plants drugs in your car to get you arrested." I joked.
Adam frowned and I watched as his brain started to spin again.
"I'm joking." I chuckled.
I watched him relax slightly but then the door opened and all the tension came right back. His eyes widened as he stared at me, the panic back at full force.
"Relax," I leaned forward pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "I'll do all the talking if that helps."
My brother walked in and judging by the relaxed look on his face his appointment wasn't a bad one.
"Oh you guys already had breakfast." Tiffany walked in carrying a bag in her hands.
"Sorry I didn't know you were going to grab something."
"I'd still eat it." Adam blurted out and then I watched as he flinched against his own words.
I squeezed his hand trying to reassure him.
"This is Adam." I introduced.
Tiffany says whole face lit up with excitement.
"I'm Tiffany, Ronans girlfriend. I've been dying to meet you." She beamed walking over to offer him one of the breakfast sandwiches from her bag.
I turned to see my brother just watching the scene. I didn't really know what to expect from him.
"God I'm starving," he walked over to where Tiffany was and grabbed at the bag.
Tiffany moved the bag out of his reach.
"Say hi to our guest first." She frowned at her boyfriend.
"Introductions are stupid, will you just let me eat and get to know the kid like a normal person." Ronan rolled his eyes.
Surprisingly this was happy and nice Ronan. And even more surprising was the fact that with my brothers words I felt Adam relax slightly letting some of that anxiety go.
"Sorry he's a lot less grumpy after a cup of coffee." Tiffany turned to Adam with an apologetic smile.
"Oh please I'm grumpier than that even after my coffee." Adam grinned back at her.
It did something to my heart to see him relaxed with my family. I wanted him around and I wanted him to get to know the other two important people of my life. Ronan and Tiffany raised me and I couldn't imagine my life without them. Seeing Adam fit in just made me like him even more.
I tried to do most of the talking because even with Adam more at ease I could tell he didn't feel one hundred percent comfortable but as the morning went on he seemed to come out of his shell a little.
He'd barely blinked as Tiffany started throwing nonstop questions at him. I couldn't get the smile off my face. This was happiness, pure joy I hadn't felt in a while.
When I looked at Adam I felt all those emotions rush over me. I was falling for him. I was diving right off the edge hoping he was right there with me feeling it just the same.
A/n:
An update? Early? What? Who even am I?
I went on a bit of a writing binge and finished this book so I'll have consistent uploads once a week until this is finished. It ended being one chapter longer than I thought it was just because ideas and scenes pop into my head and I need to add them. I am sad that this book is coming to the end and I'll miss my boys but I'm also happy that I can put my full effort into my future projects I've been planning.
As always when a book is coming to its end I always ask you all if you have requests for any bonus chapters. I don't have much planned for this book but if you guys want to see anything from Reid and Adam or really any of the other characters in this book feel free to comment and I'll see what I can do. I like seeing what people are interested in and who they might want to see more of.
Anyways I hope you all enjoyed this chapter!
