Aashvi's day had been a whirlwind of emotions, and now, in the stillness of the night, all the voices in her head were louder than ever. The dinner had been brief, a quiet affair in the bedroom, a small meal with just her and the baby. She had tried to eat, but most of it had gone untouched, her appetite lost somewhere between the demands of motherhood and the constant turmoil in her mind.

Her baby boy, wrapped in his soft blanket, lay asleep beside her on the bed. The rhythmic sound of his breathing, so pure and innocent, should have been a comfort. Yet, every breath he took seemed to echo the weight of her doubts.

With careful movements, Aashvi gently tucked the blanket around him, ensuring he was snug and warm before slowly standing up. Her limbs felt heavy, as if the world had placed too many burdens on her shoulders, and now, they were starting to crush her.

The words Mrs. Mehta had said earlier that evening were like a constant loop in her mind, playing over and over again, louder with every passing second. "You are such a disgrace," the older woman had sneered.

"What kind of mother are you, leaving your husband and raising a child all alone? and marrying a rich guy?"

Aashvi had tried to shake off the taunts, telling herself they were just empty words from a woman who knew nothing about her life. But deep down, the sting lingered. Could Mrs. Mehta be right? Was she really failing as a mother? Could she ever be the woman her son deserved? The questions, like relentless waves, crashed against her fragile sense of self.

She walked slowly towards the bathroom, her thoughts spinning wildly, a whirlpool of insecurities and self-doubt threatening to drown her. She locked the door behind her, the cold metal of the bolt echoing in the quiet room. The bathroom lights flickered for a moment before steadying, casting a harsh, unforgiving glow on the mirror.

Aashvi stood there, staring at her reflection. The woman looking back at her seemed like a stranger—her pale face, her tired eyes, the dark circles beneath them. She had once been full of life, full of hope, but now she felt like she was fading away, a shell of who she used to be. Her eyes moved down to her hands, trembling slightly, and then to the faint scars from a past she wished she could forget.

The questions came rushing in again, relentless and suffocating.

Was she truly a worthless mother? Could she give her child the love he deserved?

She clenched her fists, the sharp pain in her hands grounding her, but it wasn't enough.

Would she ever be able to build a happy married life with Vraj, despite the gaping hole in her heart left by Tanishq?

Her mind couldn't find peace. She turned away from the mirror, walking toward the sink. She reached for the cold tap, her hands trembling as she splashed water onto her face, hoping to wash away the pain. But it wouldn't go away. It never did.

She walked over to the bathroom door, leaning against it for support as her mind spiraled out of control.

Why did I let Tanishq destroy me?
