THE CAST OF OUTER BANKS WERE BACK IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND THEY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE EXCITED ABOUT IT. Sydney hadn't been able to wipe the smile off her face since her and Rudy had landed in Charleston. Especially since she would be seeing Madelyn almost every day for the next few months, she was very excited about that.
Sydney and Rudy had only flown into South Carolina the night before, but they had been the last two to fly in and the others couldn't wait any longer to see each other. Dinner had been planned that night but Madelyn and Sydney couldn't wait till the time they agreed to meet to see each other again (even though they'd only seen each other a week ago) so Sydney, Madelyn, Chase and Rudy had all gone out for drinks before they had to meet the others. The whole two hours before dinner had consisted of the girls laughing way too loudly at each other and Chase and Rudy apologising to the people around them for how much noise the two girls were making.
When they finally left the bar they had decided to sit in, Sydney and Madelyn were a couple of drinks deep and were suddenly incapable of talking at a normal volume. They were walking in front of their boyfriends, arms linked as they laughed together. The four adults were slowly walking down a street in Charleston in the direction of the restuarant they were meeting at.
"I'm so happy we're back here, I could cry." Madelyn's voice had gotten quieter for a second, suddenly feeling very emotional about being back in Charleston.
"Oh Maddie." Sydney pouted as she leant her head on Madelyn's shoulder for a few seconds.
"Seriously, I missed this so much." Madelyn couldn't help but feel emotional about being back. It felt like a dream to be back for another season.
"I missed it too." Sydney had felt the exact same way. It had been euphoric to be back.
"And to do this all over again but as better friends. I might actually cry right now." The drink was certainly making the girls a bit emotional. And it wouldn't have surprised Sydney if Madelyn ended the night in tears. Happy tears.
"And back with boyfriends." Madelyn couldn't help but giggle at her own words. So much had changed in their lives in the past year but the last thing she expected from this whole experience was to get a boyfriend out of it. And the gain a friend for life. Neither had Sydney. Even more so than Madelyn.
"Even better." Sydney smiled softly at her friend. "When are the others getting here?" She then asked Madelyn, as they continued to walk down the street.
"Drew said him and Austin are on their way. JD said he was just leaving. And I'm not sure when Madison is getting here." Madelyn told Sydney. She had checked her phone just before they had left the bar.
Fast forward to a few hours later, Sydney and Madelyn were still drunk but at least the rest of the cast were now with them and were equally as drunk. It was as though no time had passed and it was the summer of 2019 again. Just a group of young adults, jumping into this crazy experience together for the first time. They had forgotten for the night that they had become overnight successes and the whole world now adored them and their little boat show.
After doing a round of shots, and dancing till her feet hurt, Sydney was now sitting in the booth the cast had been occupying for the night with Rudy by her side. He'd had his arm swung over the back of the leather seats, resting behind Sydney as she sat at his side and watched her friends dance together. But Rudy wasn't focused on them, his eyes had been locked onto the side of Sydney's face.
Which she had eventually noticed. "What? Why do you keep staring at me like that?" She frowned, turning to face him.
Rudy smiled. "Like what?"
"Like that!" Sydney lifted her hand up to point at his face. "What? Is there something on my face?" She then began to wipe the area around her mouth, maybe she had food around her mouth from dinner.
"No." Rudy shook his head and grabbed hold of Sydney's hand to stop her. "I...I'm just really happy right now." He admitted, smiling again. He couldn't even begin to describe how happy he had felt in that moment.
Sydney tilted her head to the side. "Yeah?" The two hadn't really spoke about how they had felt recently, with how busy things had been.
"Yeah. To be here again, with you."
The smile on Sydney's face grew. "I'm really happy too."
There was a pause, as the two stared into each other eyes, lovingly. They could've stayed like that forever. "I love you." Rudy then said. He had been waiting to say those words to Sydney for a very long time. "I don't think I ever stopped." He then admitted, causing Sydney's cheeks to flush.
But she had felt the exact same. "I love you too." She whispered back, before leaning forward to press her lips against his own. They loved each other, they had never truly stopped loving each other and they knew they were going to love each other for the rest of their lives.
