Aarushi
Call kyu nhi utha rha ye?
"Finally." I say as he picks my call. "Why are you not picking my call." I scream through the phone. "I am standing infront of your house."
"Coming." Came the reply. How I hate one word replies unless it is not me.
He opens the door and takes a quick look at me and then invites me in. Gross. 1 more month and I am done with this.
"We'll study in living room today." He said and I just hummed in approval.
He excitedly got on the couch and switched on the tv. It was then I noticed India vs Pakistan semi final. Wait today is Friday?!
"Shit. How could I even forget the match is today." I say out loud.
"Poor memory problems, pheraps?" I just glared at him.
"Who won the toss?" I ask. He sighed.
"We lost. They chose bowling."
"Uhh. We'll watch batting and simultaneously study." I say sternly and he just nodded.
"There comes Rohit."
"There comes Virat."
We both say together and awkwardly look at each other.
"No one compares to Rohit, the greatest opener." He says with so much unwanted pride. I scoff.
"Never seen Virat on the field maybe." I replied back.
"Six!" I scream as Virat hits the ball. "They call him king for a reason." I look at him with a grinning smile. He just rolls his eyes which adds up more to my happiness.
"Well, Well who doesn't love a great pull shot." He says after Rohit comes on strike.
"Damn." He looks at me with confused eyes. "What? I never said I hate Rohit, did I?"
"Whatever."
I could sense the irritation in his voice and I was loving it.
~
"Wicket." We both scream together and hifi.
"And he took the catch!" He screams in excitement when Virat catches the ball. "This man." I look at him suspiciously.
"What? I never said I hate Virat, did I?" He said mimicking my dialogue. To which I roll my eyes mimicking his actions.
"Stupid break." I groan as I take the sip of Pepsi. Well yes, Aadi did bring the snacks and we haven't even touched the books yet. Cherry on top, his parents are not home so no one to point out.
"They need only 2 runs in 1 ball." I say anxiety getting the best of me.
"Chill. It's bumrah." He says calmly. And I find myself really getting calm. "Didn't know you trust me so much!"
"Jokes on you." I scoffed. "It's bumrah I trust on." I proudly say which did annoy him. I love it when he gets annoyed and cannot reply back to me. The fun is kinda different.
"Yayyyy." We both cheer as bumrah gives a dot ball. We were about to hug each other and then I realised. Both of our hands stopped mid air. I immediately turn to other side. Shit.
"Umm. Sorry. I guess I was carried away with the flow." He says scratching his head.
"It's fine." I akwardly reply.
To save us from this situation, he gets a call. As he picks up. He looks at me. "Where is your phone?"
"My phone?" I looked through my pocket and it was there as I removed and showed him. He passes me the call.
"Your mom." No way. Shit. What is the time?!
"Yes maa?"
"Aarushi!" My mom screams through the phone. "Why aren't you picking up my calls? And where have you been? You know I was so scared."
"Chill, mumma. I am Aadi's house teaching him for tomorrow's test." I smoothly lie and Aadi looks at me with the 'oh really' look. We had no test tomorrow and we didn't study. Didn't even cared to open the book.
"Aarushi I trust you but this late at a boy's house? Come home now. No tutoring classes henceforth at his house." My mom sternly says and hangs up. I feel so bad. Uhh
"How did your mom get my number?" He asks to distract me.
"No idea." I reply as all the happiness of match faded. "I need to head back now."
"I will drop you." He immediately gets up.
"No, please." I look at him and he immediately gives up.
"Fine. Text me as you reach home." He says and I leave.
In the house
As I unlock the door and enter inside my house. I see my mom standing furious.
"This is first and the last time I see you going at his house, got that?" I nod and she leaves.
Indeed a long day. I always thought about what will people think or what will my teachers think if I get close to a boy. But when I was with him, nothing seemed to bother me. No worries. No overthinking. Nothing.
I come out of my trance as I see Aadi's message.
