Aarushi
I stayed there in his arms, my face buried against his neck, breathing him in... sweat, rain and that similar cologne. The world felt still as the universe itself had paused, for us.
He pulled back slightly, just enough to look at me. He looked tired. Too tired. Guilt tripped in. He pressed a gentle kiss on my forehead.
"Happy Birthday, Aarushi." He whispered softly. "Come." He intertwined our hands. "I have something for you."
He opened the passenger's door dramatically adding, "your chariot awaits, my lady." I slightly chuckle before sliding in.
As he started driving, the city lights blurred, rain tapping softly against the roof.
He pulled over near a small park. Before I could open the door, he did it. My lips curve into a smile.
"I have something for you." He says. "Close your eyes." I hesitated but did as he said. A few seconds later, something cool and soft touch my wrists. I opened my eyes slowly and gasped.
A delicate silver bracelet with a tiny charm, a little cricket bat and guitar, and the letter 'A' next to it. Our worlds tangled together in that bracelet.
Even when in his busiest days, he made sure to select a gift. A gift so special and unique. This guy makes me fall for him every day.
"This is for me?" I asked as I touched the bracelet with my trembling hands.
"Yes." He said. "A piece of me with you, always."
I looked at him, eyes full of love and then leaned in, our lips met, he was taken aback but kissed me back. It was gentle, soft. At that moment, I felt every missed moment.
Never really imagined I would be so bold to do this, but I trusted him.
We pulled back, as he rested his forehead against mine.
"You have no idea how much I love you." My heart stopped, I looked at him, tears threatening to come out. But for once, they were happy tears.
"I love you more, Aadi."
Love. A mere waste of time, I said. But little did I know it's something that will make me feel so much. Something that will heal and break me at the same time.
I never really understood love. But now I know, it is the feeling, a feeling of belonging, a sense of warmth.
It is all just a person, that makes you feel seen.
I love him. He is my favourite feeling, happiest thought, my safest place.

I was too happy to even think about skipping school today. He was back. Here, with me. I floated through the campus gates, smile wide and unstoppable, like a child who has just been given the world.
And then I saw him.
Aadi.
Half turned towards his friends, laughing on something his friends said. His smile shining in the warm hues of sunlight.
His head turned, eyes softened, his lips curved into a wide smile.
"Good morning." He says.
"Aarushi. You have assembly duties today." I hear that annoying voice. Why does he always have to come on wrong time.
I look at Aadi to find him glaring at Avinash like he is gonna just kill him with his glares.
"Later." I say. He nods with a small smile. With the last wave, I leave the class.
"Why do you always have to come on the wrong time." I mumble.
"What?" He asks.
"Nothing." I turn to him. "And, I am well aware about my duties."
"Don't be so grumpy. Your boyfriend is not going anywhere. He is always near you." He rolls his eyes.
"What?"
"Look." He points towards the ground.
Aadi, sitting near benches, looking at me like I am the only one. Like he doesn't care what's going around.
He makes me feel the happiest. I don't need to think when he is close, because I know he is here. We'll fight whatever comes our way.
The day when I discovered about Mira and Aadi. I thought that was it. I couldn't trust him anymore. But him, he proved me wrong.
"Stop blushing, Aarushi. You are making it obvious." Interruption again. This idiot.
"Shut up."
Aadi's Pov
Where is she?
The thoughts keep circling in my mind. I have been searching for her since morning. Roaming around the corridors, peeping in the classes just to get a glimpse of her.
Maybe she is already in class.
I head towards our class, hoping she is there.
And then, there she is.
Fast asleep.
On my bench.
I was shocked, blinking as if my eyes were playing tricks. Aarushi Ahuja? Sleeping in school? The girl that is up before sunrise, always disciplined with the head girl energy was now curled on my bench, sleeping like a baby.
I walk slowly, settling myself on the best infront of her.
"No one wakes her up." I announce to the few classmates present. They exchanged surprised glances but nodded quietly. Everyone knew better than to question me.
Moments later, our maths sir walks in. His eyes immediately found me.
"Aadi?" He questions suspiciously. "How are you not bunking my lecture today?"
"Well. What can I say sir, I love your teaching." I showed the most innocent smile.
Lie. I love her.
He raised his brows but then didn't question further.
"Aadi. Coach is calling for practice." Karan pops his head in the class.
I glance over my shoulder, she was still asleep. She looked too peaceful to be disturbed.
"I'll be there next period." I say firmly. Karan shrugs and walks off.
"Oh Aadi. You love my lecture so much." I smile.
"I do, sir."
But not your lecture, her. The light in my world.
I sat there guarding her sleep like it's the most important thing. Well, for me it is.
