Aarushi

"What happened?" I ask my mom.

"Go pick up your brother from his practice."

"I am exhausted."

"Hello miss exhausted." My mom replies with sarcasm.

"Mummy yaar." I whine in annoyance.

"Yaar nhi hu Mai teri. Go fast and pick him up."

"Ugh. Fine." I groan in frustration.

Why does this place look so dark and creepy. Who am I kidding, every fucking place is creepy for a girl.

Why is he not coming out. Maybe I should go inside. Nevermind, I'll wait.

"Oh, hey." I hear someone say. I look up to find two creepy men standing in front of me. Ugh, gross.

"You are not gonna talk to us?" I heard their disgusting voice again.

"Guys step back. She's off limits." I hear Aadi. Ye banda har jagah kese Hota Hai?!

(Usko author lati hai 🙈🤭)

"Is she your girlfriend?"

"Yes." He says and pulls me towards him. I stare at him with wide eyes. What the hell is he talking? "Let's go sweetheart?" He asks. Really?! Sweetheart. Why does I feel like butterflies dancing in my stomach.

Both the guys raise thier hands in surrender and step back.

Aadi grabs my wrist and pulls me aside.

"What are you doing here?"

"Dancing." I reply and he just glares. "What type of question is that? I am here to pick up my brother."

"Come." He says and leads me inside the academy. I follow him like a lost baby looking here and there. Once we reach there, he calls out for my brother.

"Raj, your sister is here."

Raj finally comes towards us drenched in sweat. Ew.

How bipolar can I be? I loved it when it was aadi.

"Date se aa rhe ho dono?" My stupid brother asks the most unrealistic question.

"How I wish." Aadi comments. I turn to glare at him. "I said nothing."

"Of course." I roll my eyes and then turn to Raj. "It's better you shut your mouth and come home."

Raj turns to Aadi again. "Bahut hukum chalati hai, dekhlo Puri life sambhal na padega." I smack his head and pull him out of there.

"Jyada nhi bol rha aaj kal tu. Ek kaan ke neche padega na."

Next day

It's his match today.

I am not gonna watch it. I don't want to be anywhere near him. I sit in the school office looking at arrangements with Avinash and Rhea.

"Match is gonna start, I am leaving." Rhea gets up and dashes out. The moment she moves out, Avinash gets up too. Of course he always wants to be near his crush.

He turns to me with his baby eyes.

"Can I go too?"

"Will you not if I say no?"

"I mean_

"Get lost."

"Why aren't you coming?" He asks.

"Because I don't want to?"

"It's Aadi's match, come on."

"And?"

"Quit it, Aarushi. Everyone knows you two have something for each other. Have you seen him looking at you? That guy never attended classes but whenever you are there, he never bunks. He beat up Rohan because he was speaking bullshit about you. And here you are avoiding him. He has started studying so you would like him. Why are you distancing yourself?"

"Because I don't feel anything." I lie.

How could a guy change so much? A play boy to a lover one.

There is not one reason of me distancing him. How do I deceive my parents? How do I trust him? How do I let my guard down?

"Aarushi really? I have seen you with him. You feel the same yet you are denying the fact."

"I think you should leave Avinash."

"Running away from your feelings won't solve anything, Aarushi."

~

"We lost." I heard Rhea say.

"What?" I got up with a jerk.

"Aadi was duck out."

"Shit."

This match was so important for him.

"They are not out of the tournament, right?" Rhea asks.

"No. They need to win the next two matches." I reply thinking about Aadi's situation.

Aadi must be heartbroken. I need to see him. I hope he is fine.

I was on my way to the field when I heard our coach scolding someone. I peep in that class to find Aadi being scolded.

"This wasn't expected from you. What were you doing? The first match in our school and you lost it?" I hear the coach scold Aadi.

Really? Only him. Why? It's a fucking team game and he is the one getting blamed.

Our coach moves out of the class, anger clearly evident in his eyes.

I swiftly enter inside. He looked exhausted and broken.

He felt a deep need to voice his emotions, to share the turmoil that was brewing within him. But despite the overwhelming thoughts and feelings, he found himself unable to speak them out loud. The weight of everything happening in his life, the struggles he was silently carrying, made it even harder to open up. And somehow I was at fault too.

"Aadi." I tap on his shoulder.

"Aarushi, leave."

"I am not leaving you alone when I know you need someone."

"Just leave me alone. I'll be fine." He removes my hand of his shoulder.

"Aadi I know __

"Leave me alone." He screams and I flinch a little.

"Aadi, it's completely okay to feel overwhelmed. Losing a match doesn't define you. What matters truly is the effort you put in. Take a moment to acknowledge how you feel but remember this is just one chapter in your story."

He finally starts to calm down and looks up to face me.

"I am proud of you Aadi, we all are. Don't blame yourself. We all know you tried your best."

"Only If I hadn't got out, we would have won, Aarushi." I take his hand in mine.

"We can't change the done now, can we? Let's work for the next two matches? And I bet that next match, you are gonna hit a century." I dramatically added the last part and he did chuckle a little. Mission Aadi ko hasao successful.

"Thanks." He smiles.

"It's time you cheer up your teammates."

"I can do everything, with you by my side."
