Benny was really out of it today, so we all just decided to go home. We have the night game anyway, but to be honest I don't think Benny is gonna get any better. This isn't one of his off-days, I knew he liked Tina. She just wasn't interested in him like that and Benny isn't used to that.

Anyway, I was walking home with Yeah-Yeah and Squints and we had to listen to Squints go on and on about Wendy Peffercorn. I rolled my eyes and said, "Shut up, nobody cares about your obsession."

"Yeah? Well you're wrong. We all like Wendy, even Timmy," Squints retorted, causing me to stop dead in my tracks.

"What?" I asked brusquely and turned around to face them since I was ahead.

My brother punched him in the arm. "What's wrong with you?"

"What! You want me to lie to her?" Squints said defensively.

"Wait, wait, wait, Timmy likes Wendy?" I asked again in disbelief.

"N-No," he said.

"Yeah yeah, it wasn't anything. He's just trying to get you mad, right Squints?" Yeah-Yeah lied.

"Yeah," Squints fibbed.

"Yeah thanks for the effort, but you're not exactly the best actors," I said meanly and walked to The Timmons' house.

I knocked on the door and Mrs. Timmons answered the door. Just my luck.

"Hi Mrs. Timmons, may I speak to Timmy please?" I asked as politely as I could.

"Sure," she agreed. "Timothy!"

I heard him groan and I had to stifle a laugh. Timothy Timmons? Why?

"I'm coming," he called and stood next to his mom. When he saw, his eyes lit up and he tried to not grin.

"Timothy, Christian is here to talk to you," she told him.

"Okay, thanks Mom. When do you want me to be home?" he asked.

"Be back by ten o' clock," she said sternly, then sweetly added, "Have fun!"

"Thank you Mrs. Timmons," I thanked her and Timmy and I walked to the sandlot.

"So Timothy, when were you planning on telling me about your crush on Wendy?" I confronted him.

Immediately his eyes widened. "Wha-What do you mean?"

"Oh don't play stupid Timmons, Squints already told me."

"Well, it's not that big of a deal - " he started.

"No, it is a big deal Timmy!" I cut him off. "It's a big deal because you're my boyfriend!"

"Just because I like her doesn't mean that I want to date her! I do, but it's never gonna happen!" he accidentally said. "I - I mean - "

"I know exactly what you mean," I stopped him, tears brimming my eyes. I will not cry over a stupid boy. I will not cry over a stupid boy. I blinked away the tears and carried myself confidently. "I'll see you later Timmy."

Tina's POV

I was at home just watching TV with my little sister when the phone rang. I got up and answered it.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Is this Tina?" a voice asked.
