He smiled. "Thank you!" He jumped up from the couch and gave me a big ol' bear hug.
This made me very uncomfortable. I tried to suppress a groan, but it was very difficult.
He reeked of cologne and his hair, oh my God don't even get me started on his hair. It felt so weird against my face. The texture was horrible. I couldn't tell if he put gel in it, hairspray, grease, or all three!
I pulled away from his hug. "Yeah, um Micah, why are you here exactly?" I tried to ask as nicely as possible.
He blushed. "I really like you Christian, a lot. I couldn't stand having you mad at me."
I opened my mouth to say something, but he cut me off.
"And I know you're dating Timmy, but please, just give me a chance," he pleaded.
I shook my head as politely as someone who is rejecting a kid can. "Listen here Micah Bruce, you might be an okay friend, but I'm not interested."
"Christian, please just give me a chance," he insisted annoyingly.
"No Micah, I like Timmy!" I snapped at him.
"But out of everyone, why him? What makes him so special?" he asked dramatically.
I shook my head annoyedly. "Please leave before I make you."
"Chrissy - "
"Leave," I growled again.
He snarled. "Whatever, you're a sl*t anyway," he spat and left hastily.
I shook my head and tried not to let his comment get to me. I didn't want to think about it too much. I phoned Tina and Yorky, knowing that Yorkers would bring Emmee along. Killing two birds with one stone type thing. I asked them if they wanted to go to the pool today. Just us girls.
They agreed, and about 15 minutes later we met at Emmee and Yorky's house.
"Hey guys!" Tina chirped.
"What's up?" Yorky greeted.
"I'm bored of you losers already," Emmee joked, smiling playfully.
"You guys, you'll never believe what happened," I told them dramatically.
"What?" they all asked, voices overlapping each other.
"Micah Bruce came over to my house, and told me he wanted me to give him a chance and I was like 'no way, I have Timmy' and he was like 'please I beg you'!" I spilled the beans.
"Ew!" Yorky exclaimed, and Emmee and Tina looked legitimately confused.
"Oh yeah! Emmers and Tina don't know about him!" I said to Laska.
"Ohhhhhhh," she realized. "You wanna tell 'em, or you want me to?"
"You can."
"He's basically a man-wh*re who tries to get with every girl possible. I'm pretty sure he owns at least 5 issues of Playboy," Alaska said, adding a shudder for effect.
"Yeah," I agreed. "Total player."
Tina gagged playfully, causing us to laugh.
"So," I said, extending the o. "How's Bertram and how's Benny?"
Yorkers sighed. "I'm kinda worried about Bertram. I think he's doing dope, but I dunno how to stop him. It's like, you can't force people to do something they don't wanna do, yunno?"
We nodded, not knowing how to respond. It wasn't real often you found someone from our neighborhood doing drugs, but they'd become popular in the last 4 years.
"How's Benjamin, Tina?" Alaska asked, shaking off Bertram's situation.
Tina smiled huge, her warm brown eyes lighting up at his name. She may deny liking him as much as she does, but she makes it obvious - at least to us.
"He's good. He's so sweet and funny and caring," she gushed. "It's almost unbelievable how kind he is."
I nodded and smiled at how happy she was.
"How's Timothy?" Emmee asked.
I shrugged. "He's been kinda distant," I answered, leaving it at that. "So Emilee, tell me, do you like anyone?"
She smirked and stated mysteriously, "Maybe..."
Laska had a knowing look in her eyes, but they looked like two cold pieces of blue ice.
"Whooooo?" Tina questioned.
Emmee groaned. "Do I have to-"
"Yes," I cut her off.
"Fine," she sighed. "I like Squints."
"What? No!" I exclaimed excitedly.
"Oh my God, Emmee! You two would look amazing together!" Tina proclaimed.
I snuck a glance at Alaska once we arrived at the pool, and she looked a bit jealous. Oh well, I won't mention it.
We went to the locker room and changed into our swimsuits and locked up our cover up clothes. "You guys ready?" I asked them, and they nodded.
We waded slowly into the pool, the water quite cold. We splashed around until closing time and decided to go to the sandlot to wait until the guys finished up their game.
We chatted all the way to the lot and sat in the dug out. I spotted Timmy and grinned to myself. I've never been so into anyone before, but he never failed to fascinate me. We made eye contact for a second and he smiled dreamily, but quickly shot his attention back to the game.
The sun was nothing but a red glow, crouching behind the rooftops. The clouds stretched lazily across the sky. The air was thick and warm. The smell of hotdogs and freshly mowed grass filled my nostrils. I heard the crack of a bat and the cheers of a rowdy crowd from a few blocks away. Tonight was as summer as summer gets.
I nudged Alaska and said, "Look who's all sticky-moony-candy-assed over you," referring to my starry eyed brother.
"Whatever," she scoffed and looked at him, making eye contact. He grinned goofily and his cheeks flushed red.
The crack of the bat sounded again, but this time it was from us. The ball was hit in a line drive right at Yeah-Yeah. The poor idiot was too busy day dreaming over Yorky, he got hit square in the eye.
A yelp escaped his lips and we all gasped....
ayeeeeee fam! Long time no see. I missed you. I feel like you guys don't really know me too well so comment questions for me to answer in the next chapter. ILYGSM STAY GOLD
