I glanced at Tina and Benny and he had his arm around her. I smiled and snuck a peek at Timmy. He looked sad and was just kinda staring at the sky blankly. He didn't look the least bit amazed by the fireworks. I could see the reflection of the colors in his hazel eyes. His beautiful hazel eyes. I wanted so badly to walk over to him and tell him that I forgave him, but I just couldn't. It's not right for you to date someone, yet be interested in someone else at the same time. Sure she was the prettiest girl in town, according to the boys at least, but that didn't mean it was okay to like her while you have a girlfriend.
I guess Timmy felt my gaze on him because the next throng I knew he was staring right back at me. He walked towards me cautiously looked at me real hopefully.
"Chrissy, I'm sorry. I don't like Wendy like that. I wouldn't ever like her like that, you're the only girl in my mind. The way your hair shines in the sun, the way your blue eyes sparkle, the way you laugh when you watch Mickey, it's all stuck in my head. So please Chrissy, please forgive me," he pleaded. "How could I like her when I have you?"
I smiled the biggest, happiest smile I've ever smiled my whole life. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips softly to his. He kissed back and I felt his lips curve into a smile against mine. I pulled away after a few seconds and I just stared at him. He was grinning like crazy and he gave my lips one last peck.
"I forgive you Timothy," I teased playfully and snatched his Yankees cap of his head. I secured it on mine and smirked at him.
"Thank you Christian," he smiled cheekily. I pushed him frolicsomely and we sat on the ground, just watching the sky be lit up by the fireworks.

Alaska's POV
I was staring at the sky when I felt a pair of eyes staring at me. I turned and saw Yeah-Yeah just swooning over me. Once he saw me catch him, his eyes widened and he blushed furiously.
Why does that kid like me? There is nothing extraordinary about me, I'm just me. Just plain, old Alaska Adiego. My name is probably the most unique thing about me. You could probably just walk down the street and find a girl prettier than me.
He was still gaping at me and I winked at him. A smile passed briefly across his lips and I felt kinda bad for messing with that poor, stupid boy. I turned my attention back to the sky, but I could still feel his gaze on me.
The night passed rather quickly and we all had to go home after the fireworks had finished because it was too dark to see the ball. I walked home with Bertram and we talked.
He went on and on about these people that he met a few weeks back when Sadies moved away and we weren't playing ball. He said they were 'outta sight' and 'totally groovy.'
"Have they been teaching you new slang?" I asked laughing a bit.
He beamed proudly. "Yup, I'm glad you noticed. Now that people are starting to sound like us things are gonna be so far out."
I nodded and smiled confusedly. "So are your new friends fun to hang with?" I asked.
He nodded. "Yeah, they're really neato and their clothes are totally nifty! And they hook me up with MJ, so we're tight," he enthused.
He's friends with hippies, I thought to myself. He probably gets stoned at night.
"Hey, I'm gonna crash at their place tonight and we're supposed to have a gas, wanna come along?" he offered.
I shrugged, "Sure, but no stoning," I punched his arm playfully.
He smiled and looked down blushing? I realized I was grinning and blushing as well. "Bertram?" I asked.
"Yeah?" he answered looking at me cautiously.
"Who are your friends?" I questioned.
"Well, they like to be called Flower, Tye Dye, and Rain," he told me. "Don't worry, they're almost as righteous as you."
I smiled at him coyly and he winked. "You dig okay baby," I flirted, hoping to get a reaction.
And a reaction I got. He held my hand and intertwined our fingers. He walked me to his friends' house and we just barged in. It smelled horribly of marijuana, pot, heroine, and other drugs. I looked at Bertram and he was just smiling. "Hey Rain," he called to a girl sitting on a couch smoking her heart out.
"Hey Berty," she threw a peace sign. "The MJ's in the kitchen."
"Thanks," he grinned and pulled me to the kitchen and we saw a guy sitting on a counter inhaling who knows what. "Hey Tye Dye," he chirped, picking up a bag of marijuana. I gave him a quick glare, but he was oblivious.
"Bertram dude," the guy said, exaggerating the 'u.' "Whoa Bert, is she your girl?"
We bother opened our mouths to answer, but Tye Dye cut us off and high fives Bertram, "Duuuuude! Score!"
We both blushed a deep red and Bertram thanked him with and awkward smile, grabbed the MJ, and we walked to the hallway. And guess who was there doing what?
"Hi Flower," Bertram greeted to a girl sitting on the floor, freaking injecting herself with something.
"Beeeeert," she said grinning.
I smiled at her and Bertram and I went out to the backyard. We sat on the grass and he smoked his marijuana while I tried to ignore the vile stench the drug produced. I took the MJ from him and put it out. I leaned towards him and said, "Bertram, you need to stop using all these drugs."
He shrugged, "But they calm me. They make all my worries go away."
I gave him a sympathetic look. "Okay, well, I gotta get home, I'll see you tomorrow I guess." I stood up and dusted my jeans off.
"Here, I'll walk you," he told me and we strolled to my house. We stood on my front porch and I thanked him.
"Thanks Bertram," I smiled and kissed his cheek, close to his mouth but not on the lips. He smiled and nodded.
"I'll see you later," he said and I watched him walk home.
