"Come on Alaska! We're gonna be late!" my mom yelled at me from inside of the taxi we always took.
"Coming! " I shouted back as I hopped of the porch of the apartment complex we lived in. I ran to the edge of the sidewalk and threw my myself inside the backseat of the cab. "Hey, careful kid. This taxi's gotta look presentable."
"She's very sorry Hank," my mom apologized for me.
"Yeah, truly," I agreed, only slightly sarcastic. "Hey, mom?"
"Yes Alaska?" she sighed.
"Why're we moving again?"
"I already told you why."
"I forgot why," I said.
"For my new job," she sighed again. Man I make my mom sigh a lot. But it's not my fault I'm so hyper, I mean I do have ADHD. And dyslexia. But that's not important.
Well, I might as well try to enjoy this 'new experience' as my mom calls it. Now I just have to handle sitting as still as possible for the ride to the airport.•••. 'This sucks,' I already thought.
It took us about half an hour to get to the airport, and we just barely made it to catch our flight in time. Not to mention that we also barely had enough cash to tip Hank. Once we boarded, it was so packed that I had to sit next to a complete stranger and my mom had to sit next to an elder lady. The boy I sat next to looked about my age and had light brown hair, brown eyes, and freckles. He's cute-ish, I guess. "So, I'm Andrew Phillips. What's your name?" he asked.
"Alaska Adiego. It's very nice to meet you."
"So what're you into? Like what're your hobbies, I mean."
"Hmmm.. Let's see, I'm from Broncs so I guess I like fights." His only reaction was to stare at me like I had two heads. "No, I'm just kidding. I only fought when I had to. I guess I like baseball and boys," I said to him.
"Well, I like baseball and girls. I'm actually on a little league team called The Tigers. I also like your New York accent. It's adorable, and you're hot," he tried to flirt.
"Oh. Well thanks, I guess. I'll be taking a nap now," I said awkwardly and leaned my head against the window. I hope this makes me get to L.A. faster. Within a few minutes I was out cold, which was weird because I was full of energy.
