Chapter 8

Kai didn't talk to you for the following few days. He didn't show up in your house for your practice and actually came back to his asshole self. Every time he passed near you, he looked at you as if you were trash and smelled bad. You didn't know why he was acting like that again. You weren't even sure if he told Kyungsoo and Subin about your double date yet because none of them said anything either. Kyungsoo just smiled and shared a few nice words with you as usual and Subin was nowhere to be found; you could only see her at class and even there she wasn't much talkative. She didn't even have lunch with you; she was always with Kai while you spent lunch time alone. You couldn't blame her; you knew how addictive Kai was, as much as you didn't want to admit it. You sat alone and began to eat your lunch, looking across the cafeteria as your eyes landed on Kai and Subin. They were sat so close their faces were inches apart as Kai was talking. Subin was giggling, making eyes at him. It was so disgusting. Suddenly you lost your appetite. You stood up and began to walk out the cafeteria as discomfort invaded your body. You felt so sick. You ran to the bathroom and pour some water on your face. You stood there breathing deeply until that uneasy sensation left you. Why were you feeling like that? Subin was your friend; you had to feel happy for her instead of jealous. You knew she liked Kai for a long time, before you became friends and before your friendship with him finished. But you couldn't help but hate her. Alright, it wasn't really hatred but you just kind of wanted to drag her by the hair and send her as far as you could from Kai. Literally. Gosh, you had no right to feel like that. Kai wasn't anything yours; he owed you nothing. He could do whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted. You made a deal and your terms were very clear; you were just using each other, that was all. But what if he wanted to finish your deal because of Subin? That wasn't possible. Kai didn't have girlfriends; he just flirted with girls and had a good time with them. He was probably going to spend some time with Subin before he got tired of her and things would come back to normal again. You couldn't help but smile. Gosh, you were such a bitch.

As you came back to your classroom for your next class, Subin was already on her seat. You sat next to her as usual and began to take your books. She didn't talk to you during the whole hour; she just seemed to be focused on her phone, not even paying attention to the teacher. She used to tell you everything about the boys she was, even if you never asked or didn't want to know. But she didn't tell you anything about Kai. She actually didn't talk to you about anything; period.

"Kai just told me about tonight", she said when you were about to leave. She seemed annoyed. Now she was talking to you? What did you do to deserve such an honor?

"Yeah", you simply said without looking at her.

"Whyt did you have to involve Kai and me in this? You could just have asked Kyungsoo", she said harshly. What the hell? Was she annoyed because of that?

"It would have been weird if I would have asked him out of the blue. It's seems more normal if we go out as a group of friends", you reply.

"Well, you'll have to ask him one day. You can't expect people to help you constantly. I don't want a gooseberry", she said. You looked at her incredulously. Was she serious? Fucking bitch!

"Don't worry, this will be the last time I ask you for help", you said before you left.

You kept ruminating on what Subin said when you arrived home. Did she know anything about you and Kai? It wasn't possible, right? Kai would have told her about that. Besides, if she knew something 'gooseberry' would have been the nicest thing she would have told you. You were lost in your thought when your phone vibrated.

Kai: "I'll pick you up at 7"

You felt shudders running along your spine. It you wouldn't have know anything, it would have sound as a date.
