Chapter 23

Jongin hugged you as he rubbed your back softly. You had to have dinner with Kyungsoo and his father and you couldn't be more nervous. He was trying to calm you down but you knew he was upset too.

"I don't want to go", you complained.

"It's just one dinner. It'll end soon", he replied.

"It'll end for now, but they're serious with that relationship. My mother is ever thinking on living together!", you exclaimed.

"It will be fine, baby", Jongin replied, clenching his jaw. He didn't look convinced. "Just be careful and don't go along with the things he'd say", he continued.

"Do you think he could bring up our relationship in front of our parents?", you asked surprised. It wasn't something that Kyungsoo would do.

"I don't know the Kyungsoo he just turned into. He wasn't like that. He's always been a nice and kind person", he replied.

"But people change when they're hurt", you said.

"I feel like he did that to make me suffer", he continued, almost speaking to him.

"What do you mean?", you asked.

"I think he asked you out because of me. He wanted me to go insane", he replied.

"Do you mean that he didn't really like me? He was just using me?", you asked upset. Did Jongin really think everything was fake? It kind of hurt your pride.

"I don't mean that. It's just that...", he sighed."It's weird. At first he didn't have any interest in you. I was always mean to you but I wasn't able to hide what I felt for you all the time. He knew I was in love with you. He perfectly knew and he asked you anyway", he explained.

"But if he liked me he could asked me out", you said.

"You don't understand. You can't date the girl your friend likes; it's a guy code", he replied. "Besides, he asked you in the worst possible moment. It was when I was finally having hopes to be with you and he knew it. It feels as if he wanted me to be jealous", he continued. You thought about it for a moment. During the last two years, it was obvious that you "liked" Kyungsoo. He surely knew it and he had always been kind to you but it never went further. Then, suddenly, asked you out. But why would have been using you? With what purpose? It made no sense. You said good-bye to Jongin and got dressed for the unwanted dinner.

Your palms were sweating when the bell rang. You knew you were the only cause of that. If things wouldn't have turned the way they did, maybe you and Kyungsoo could have had a kind relationship. As soon as your mother opened the door, she smiled and hugged Kyungsoo's father affectionately. Gosh, she looked really happy. She then gave a couple of kisses to Kyungsoo when his father introduced him. Then it was your turn. Minsoo seemed a good-natured and kind man. He wasn't too tall and his sweet expression made him look younger. He and Kyungsoo were really alike. They both had that nice aura that made people felt comfortable around them. Minsoo copied your mother and gave you a couple of shy kisses. You looked at Kyungsoo with the corner of your eye. He didn't show signs of greeting or approaching you. Your eyes met for a moment and you could see the disgusting look on them. It made you feel shivers.

After a small talk, you sat on the table. You had your mother beside you and Minsoo in front so, fortunately, you didn't have to put up with Kyungsoo looking daggers at you. Well, not directly at least. But every time you turned your eyes to him, his angry eyes were on you.

"So you go to the same school, right? Did you know each other?", Minsoo asked.

"Who doesn't know her? He's quite famous in school", Kyungsoo replied coldly.
