LEENA

After school, the three of us settle on visiting the basketball court. I had nothing to do after school hours today and I didn't feel like going home so soon.

And maybe I also wanted to see Angel.

I spot him first as he dribbles the ball past Matt before shooting it into the hoop. He was so attractive and I found it extremely difficult not to stare at him for too long.

"That's not fair," Matt complains, leaning onto his knees to catch his breath. "You know I'm not good at this, take it easy." He adjusts his glasses that had shifted slightly from his movement.

"That sounds like a personal problem to me." Angel ignores Matt as he heads to the bench, picking up his water bottle before bringing it up to his lips.

I watch as his Adam's apple bobbed with each intake of the water, his shirt clung to his chest. It was pretty chilly outside today but he was in a t-shirt and sweating as if it were eighty degrees outside.

I'm pulled out of my trance by Lilith who speaks. "Can I play?"

At her words, the three boys' heads snap in our direction.

My attention was so focused on Angel that I hadn't even noticed Mitch sitting on the bench, his eyes specifically on the giddy girl next to me.

Angel freezes, Matt abruptly looks away, and Mitch.. well Mitch was giving the same girl googly eyes. If it weren't for the circumstances I would be laughing.

"Of course you can play." A smile makes its way onto Mitch's face as he stands up, getting ready to head over to us.

"What, so you can give yourself an excuse to feel her up the entire game?" Reyna's input brings him to a halt, the smile on his face dropping. A smug look appears on her face at the sight.

"No, of course not-" his words are cut off by Lilith, who's quick to speak with a desperate attempt at stopping the conversation from taking a turn.

"She's joking, don't listen to her. Right Rey?" She turns to look at her, hoping that she'll play along.

"No," Reyna chuckles before lifting her hands up, gesturing for Angel to hand her the ball. "Hand it over, I want to play."

With a roll of his eyes, he tosses her the ball and she grins, moving onto the court where Matt still stands. The guy was practically glued to his spot the entire time and hadn't said a word. I almost forgot he was there.

I decide to grab a seat on the bench, watching as the four of them form teams. Mitch was fixed on teaming with Lilith and wouldn't play if he wasn't able to, so that left Matt with Reyna.

I'm so focused on watching them that I don't notice Angel lower himself down onto the bench next to me.

"Aren't you going to play?" His voice takes me out of my fixation and I sigh.

"No, I'm not really good at playing basketball." Even though dad used to try and teach me how to play it when I was younger, I still sucked at it.
