Jeongyeon and Nayeon are sitting in a newly opened Korean-Thai restaurant in Hongdae, waiting for Nayeon's parents to arrive. They had planned this lunch as an opportunity for Jeongyeon to finally meet Nayeon's parents.
"You're like a walking Seoul guidebook, always unearthing the coolest new spots! Especially these restaurants - you have a sixth sense for knowing what I'll love. Honestly, if it wasn't for you, I'd be stuck in the same old places forever. But, come to think of it, they're all newly established places, so it makes sense I haven't been before. I bet you're researching all these amazing places just to impress me, aren't you?" Nayeon said, wiggling her eyebrows with a mischievous grin.
"I love the effort," she added, playfully throwing a wink Jeongyeon's way. She was clearly smitten with Jeongyeon's thoughtfulness but trying to hide it behind her playful antics.
Jeongyeon just rolled her eyes, but a smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
It felt like a weight had been lifted when she finally returned to her usual self. It was understandable - Friday's incident had shaken her deeply. We hadn't had a proper conversation since I drove her home that night until yesterday. Her need for space was understandable, but I couldn't help but reach out to her sister for updates. So, I was honestly surprised when she decided to go ahead with our lunch plans with her parents. I even told her it was perfectly fine to reschedule or that I could just meet up with her because I wanted to make sure she was okay. Jeongyeon's gaze softened as she watched Nayeon, her thoughts swirling like the autumn leaves outside the window.
Last Friday, aside from those present in Lisa's penthouse and the authorities she contacted, no one knows what transpired there. The girls also refuse to inform their families about it.
"Remember, you said you wanted someone who wouldn't follow the usual script when it comes to dating? You wanted to be surprised, taken to places that weren't predictable. You're not into the same old cliche date spots unless it's somewhere you truly love. I'm just trying to live up to your standards," Jeongyeon replied, nonchalantly flipping through the menu. "And no, I'm not doing any research. I already knew about these places."
Nayeon raised an eyebrow, skepticism written all over her face.
"Hmm, 'already knew them'? Like, how did you even know about those restaurants? They were newly established! You must have done your homework, you sneaky little researcher." She said, clearly enjoying teasing Jeongyeon. "You know, you're really going all out to impress me." A wide playful smirk stretched across her lips.
Jeongyeon finally tore her eyes from the menu, catching Nayeon's eyes. The playful smirk on Nayeon's lips seemed to solidify, a challenge, a dare. Jeongyeon's own lips curved into a slow, knowing smile.
