Theia's POV
I opened my eyes, immediately startled by the unfamiliar surroundings. I was in a house. My heart raced as I took in the cozy, well-decorated house around me. I looked out of the window it looked like it was morning already. The soft light filtering through the curtains revealed an inviting space—a true family home. Everything looked so ordinary, yet to me, it felt surreal. For a moment, I struggled to piece together where I was and why I was here.
Then it all came rushing back: The Avengers, the Clerance Organization, Hydra... The farmhouse. Relief washed over me as I realized I was at Clint's safe house. Finally, I was somewhere secure—at least for now. I was safe. I was safe because I was at clints safe house. Well, that's good.
A voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, you're up?"
I flinched, spinning around to see Laura standing in the doorway, smiling warmly. She held a mug of steaming coffee in her hands, the rich aroma filling the air.
"That's good. I made breakfast," she said, her tone light and welcoming. "I hope you like eggs and bacon." She laughed and motioned to the plate on the countertop in the kitchen.
"Yeah. I mean, thank you," I replied, offering her a small smile. "I'm a little hungry." I quickly stood up from the couch, my back aching a bit. It always could be worse.
As I made my way toward the kitchen, a gnawing sense of unease crept in. The house felt quiet. Too quiet. No faint sound of Tony's sarcasm, no murmured conversations or anything.
"Wait, where is everyone? Tony? Clint?" I asked, furrowing my brows in concern.
Laura chuckled softly, sipping her coffee. "Don't worry. They'll be back in no time. They went out somewhere to follow a new lead. It shouldn't take too long."
At that my eyes widened in shock, and my stomach twisted. "They left?" I exclaimed, my voice rising. "Without me? Why would they leave me here? Why? I...I could've helped!"
Laura licked her lips and sighed, setting her coffee down on the counter. "They're the Avengers, Theia. They have a job to do. It's not like they abandoned you. They'll handle what needs handling and come back for you. I promise."
Her reassurance didn't fully soothe the sting of being left behind, but I nodded reluctantly. She gave me a kind smile. "How about this: eat your breakfast, and then we can figure out something to do. Or if you'd rather, you can spend the day as you like."
"That sounds great. Thanks," I replied, though my mind was still clouded with worry.
With that I took the plate that Laura motioned was mine and took it to the dinning table. I sat down and started eating. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon crisp. It was a simple meal, but it felt like a luxury after everything I'd been through. I couldn't even remember the last time I'd eaten eggs and bacon. I quickly ate my breakfast and Once I finished I took my plate back into the kitchen.
