CHAPTER SEVEN;

A NEW FRIENDSHIP? -

Lucas Grimshaw, (or so he claimed) became an instant mystery to me, as we wondered through the blue corridors like adventurers in a maze of beauty. He looked so skulduggery, yet he appeared to me as a genius with his blonde striking hair........I was dazzled and bewildered about him, and I instantly put it upon myself to figure him out.

We were heading for the library, so I could invite him into my graceful world of books. But it made me realise, why an earth am I doing this? Could this be a person who was to leave me stranded in the future? All the doubt was surrounding my head, plucking at my strings.....

But I had to remain calm, and fair. It would be extremely mean to have a negative attitude towards Lucas, considering I've actually only known him for 4 hours now.

However, I still stand by my point - Lucas Grimshaw is a complete mystery. Mainly because (1) his fresh and clean blonde hairstyle left me stunned, yet (2) I was always talking, he never asked any questions, but then again, (3) Lucas was so......polite and peaceful in every aspect so far. It made me realise that I needed a friend like this in my life, a person who would never turn their back upon me, nor leave me in the drain.

And maybe he was one of them.

"This is it right? The library? I never really come here much, as you can tell......" He asked with his cheeks shining out red, whilst pointing at the door far from us.

I chuckled at his embarrassment, and said "Yes, this is indeed the library - also known as my favourite place."

He itched his cheek, "Ah, that's cool, every other girl normally likes to spend their time at the courts, but you don't seem to be like them - I like it."

"I like it too. You know, I try to diverge myself from normality pretty much all the time."

We were walking faster now, "And you do that by coming to the library?" Lucas laughed.

"Yeah....I mean, kinda. I do other stuff too, like buying different clothes to everyone, expressing my feelings through drawings and songs. Or just avoiding trendy stuff...."

He smiled back at me, impressed with my differences. And right there and then, I started to admire his killer - jawline, alongside his orange glasses. I loved how they fitted and suited his personality, (and himself) so well. It left me awestruck.

Stop it Lara, you're moving too fast......

Together, we entered the library, and Lucas's face enlightened at the sight of all the books in front of us. They were stacked neatly and arranged in alphabetical order, placed on rows and shelves of all different sizes. Our library was rather small, but for that it certainly didn't lack any heart.

"Wow. I've never actually realised how distant and.....quiet the library was. I should really come here more often."

"Sounds good to me, but first I I need to suggest some books to you." I said, tugging gently at his denim waistcoat. I tried my hardest not to tear it in the slightest.

Lucas gave out another smile, and I pulled him desperately, "What genre do you like? Crime? Humour? Fiction....or romance?" I asked, eagerly wanting to know what this cool dude was in to. "I like the occasional fantasy at times, and vampires, always vampires. But, I really wanna get in to romance!"

"Ohhh, you didn't strike me as a vampire kinda guy. But hey, that's pretty cool."

"Using my tagline are we?"

"Yes, definitely."

We laughed.

"C'mon over here," I said, dragging him over to the romance isle. "You need this book in your life." Watching his eyes, as I handed the blue book to him, I smiled and so did he.

"The fault in our stars?" Lucas asked to me.

"YES!" I almost screamed. "This is definitely the starter - romance book for novice love readers, it'll hurt a little, but it's well worth it! Oh, and I should mention that I've read it more than four times, I just can't put it down!"

"Wow, you really fangirl over John Green huh?"

"Yes, and so will you once you take this book out!"

"Ha, okay I get the picture." Then, we walked over to the librarian, shoulders brushing past each other, and eventually took the book out. Once we finished in the library, it was his turn. So, he led me outside, into the cool and comfortable air across the fields.

(Play the song.)

We were at peace, with the birds chumming and chirping above us. We parked ourselves at this antique - like bench. It was brown, and had several coats of paint on it. I smiled, whilst the Autumn leaves fell on top of us........

The wind rushed against our sides, and I almost fell over to Lucas's lap. Other nearby students walked and strode along the stone path in front of us, and it made me realise how beautiful and lucky we are to have so much nature in front of us.

The sun was beaming at us, like a pair of eyes were settling their gaze upon me and Lucas. I adored being out here, with my new friend. And this time, the word "friend" didn't even hurt to say.

It was if all my problems were slowly floating away, into a river of dreams. While I was sitting here, talking to Lucas, I'd forgotten about grandma.....

We were breathing in the nature around us, taking in the magnificent scenery. Admiring the spectacular forces of nature around us. I felt at peace with the world......

And once the silent silence drifted over us, it made me realise that two people sharing a comfortable silence is one of the most undervalued jewels in the world. When a single sideways glance can be understood so simply, and so purely - well, there is nothing more intimate than the shared unspoken word between two true friends.

I felt free at this time.

"Thank you Lucas", I said, turning towards him. "This lunch time has been......amazing! I j-just don't want any of his to end......I feel so happy.."

"Me too Lara, me too. I really hope we can do this again? If you want? I really enjoyed the little trip we embarked on!"

"Yes, I'd love to do this again...anytime."
