CHAPTER SIXTEEN;
CAMPING IN THE WOODS -
The night was actually going rather well, we'd spent that humble Friday evening and morning in the woods, not far from the outskirts of London. The train tickets - (from what I remember) - cost a fortune, and I forgot the next morning whose idea it was to camp out there.
I mean, I was terrified.
The woods were dark, but Lucas had insisted that I should overcome one of my (many) fears. Sometimes he could be so stubborn. So, me being a person who's never turned down a challenge, agreed to spend the night with him, and the trees.
Apart from the fact that strange noises kissed our tent many times during the night, and I often heard a scratch or ruffle from some scrawny squirrel or something. It wasn't terrifying at first, until Lucas came into the situation.
I tumbled and turned over in my sleeping bag, which was, if I must add, very loose around me; plenty of space for two people. I was glad when morning came along. But, with the constant noise I was non - purposely making, I felt sorry for Lucas. I also imagined that he considered sleeping outside in the rain for the night.
I did hold a begrudge over how peaceful he slept though.

And just as I thought I was drifting off into a nostalgic sleep, rain came firing down upon us, even a few of the birds began to moan in joint effort beside us.
However the rain was a coat of realisation. I suddenly encountered a reality check, and instantly forgot to inform mum that I was sleeping in the woods.....Not that I had planned to or anything, but I imagined that back then she would've been pissing her panties at the thought of me disappearing.
Could I have phoned her back then? Would my cellular device get signal?
I ignored all the annoyingly - repetitive questions stirring in my mind, and decided to phone my mother. I braced myself for a lecture over the phone.
Ring......ring.......
Ring.......ring.......
"I'm sorry but the person you are trying to phone is not available right now, please leave a message after the beep."
Huh, great.
Just as I thought I actually had a chance of not being severely told off tomorrow morning. So, I left a message:
"Heya mum, it's me. You're probably shitting yourself, wondering where on earth I am at this time of night. Well, please don't go all barmy, but-----
"LARA MENDES WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?" A voice screamed over the phone. I knew that harsh and violent tone of voice, and I could tell you that it belonged to a dragon.
And To be honest, I didn't know exactly where I was, and why I was there. Well mainly because of Lucas's brilliant persuasion techniques, or because I was feeling slightly rebellious that evening. But either way, I knew there would be a LOT of explaining to do.
