"They are not Allies, just a distracted pest in need of extermination."

-President of Poland in a call with the Presidents of France and America.

September 19, 2025. Kiev, Ukraine. Independence Square. Kozatskiy Hotel.

Two men enter their hotel room, exhausted from the military plane ride from Atlanta. Setting down their luggage, one of the men flops down onto the bed.

DIMITRI: Dear god my back is killing me.

The other man begins to unpack.

SERGI: The plane was from the 80s, what did you expect?

Sergi opens a rifle case laid out on the bed, and he starts to assemble it. The Parshing that Sergi holds is a new rifle built for MPs and police forces, being chambered in a new 30-45 cartridge, it has the power to pierce some body armor, but can't pierce armored vehicles well. In a situation like this it's perfect.

DIMITRI: Is that the weird bolt version or the semi auto?

SERGI: The weird bolt version is only for police.

He screws on a suppressor, leveling the rifle at the balcony making sure the scope is working. He turns on the scope, it zooms in and out on its own before the reticle appears.

SERGI: just 5 years ago it would be seen as insane for scopes to be this advanced.

The curtains are drawn back revealing the square.

SERGI: What's the target location?

Dimitri unzips his backpack pulling out a thin tablet. He swipes right, a map of Kiev flashes on the screen with a red dot near the city's entrance.

DIMITRI: They just entered the AO.

Sergi opens the balcony door, setting up his position aiming at the dome in the square's center. The top rooms of the hotel have special features on their balconies, and that is bricks encompassing the railing with canvas roofs covering them. This was implemented for the exact reason the sniper crew is using them. The Ruskis invasion of Ukraine in 2017 militarized high vantage points all over the country.

A blacked out sedan pulls over on the side of the road letting out 2 men wearing black coats. The men walk to a park bench near the dome, a person dressed in a Ukrainian uniform stands up and greets them. The crosshair settles on the military officer, whose demeanor is that of excitement. That demeanor is then painted all over the dome, as a 30-45 fractures his skull.

The square turns into a panic, civilians running for nearby houses and shops. The two black coats don't make it far, with one getting his head blown off and the other's lung collapsing when the third shot pierces his chest. The sedan speeds off hitting a few civilians on its way out of the square. The sniper group quickly packs their gear and heads to the lobby. Bolting out of the hotel into the square, an armored police car stops in front of them. The police officers motioned them to get in. The group boards the truck.

SERGI: I thought the local militia was picking us up.

OFFICER: We're part of the militia.

Sergi notices two individuals dressed in western military attire with sloppily sewn patches of the Kiev militia. The truck drives down the streets dodging civilian cars. A call comes over the police truck's radio calling for all units to respond to a shooting in the square. The truck parks in a back alley near the outskirts of the city. The militia men lead the group to a beat up fruit truck. Waving goodbye the police truck pulls back onto the road driving off. They board and slip out of the city by bribing the police near one of the entrances to let them through without trouble.
