Mrs. Nishimura had them all assembled in the living room and smiled at them "Christmas is soon and I think we should all go shopping for gifts."
"When should that be?" Yura's father asked.
"Today? We're all home, so we can go now and split up at the mal." The woman suggested.
Yura's father shrugged and nodded "Sure. Let's go." he stood up and grabbed his keys.
Yura followed with a sigh and then Niki also stood up, following them as well.
The four of them got in the car with Yura's father in the driver's seat and Mrs. Nishimura in the passenger. Niki and Yura sat in the back and Yura's father began driving.
The girl always felt anxious when driving with her father. It wasn't like she didn't trust him to get them to their destination but that man just drove like they had nine lives.
The man rounded a turn of the road and the car shook slightly, giving Yura the feeling of almost crashing. Her heartbeat had picked up and she clenched her hands as she sat wordlessly in her seat.
Niki glanced at her, seeing how her fists tightened but he crossed his arms to stop the urge to take her hands and stop her fists from clenching.
They soon arrived at the mal and entered. Mrs. Nishimura turned to them with a smile "Okay, let's split and every time will go look for something they can give each other."
"Are you sure? Why don't we all just-"
"I am sure." The woman interrupted her son "I know your tricks, Niki. You won't convince me to just make food and not celebrate. We're a family now, it's our first Christmas. It should be special."
Niki nodded and pursed his lips. He stuffed his hands in his pockets as his mother smiled brightly at them again "Let's go." with that she was walked away.
Yura sighed before walking away too. She looked around in what shop she could go. The easiest person to get a gift for was probably Mrs. Nishimura, so Yura first looked into a jewelry shop.
The girl saw many pretty necklaces and bracelets, also earrings and other piercings. Nothing much has caught her eye tho. She wanted something really beautiful. Meaningful. But Yura didn't know if she could find something that would also hold a meaning.
Yura sighed. This would take a while.

Niki wandered around, not quite knowing what he should get. Did he even want to buy something? For his mother, yes. For Yura's father, no. For Yura? He kind of wanted to. But something inside of him held him back.
Would she get him something? He wasn't sure. Niki also wasn't sure what she would think if he got her something. Maybe he'll just buy a gift for his mother and leave it at that. Yeah, he'll do that.
